50 / 25 ips and Videostudio and introducing myself.

Post by radeon »

Hello everybody on this forum.
New VideoStudio pro X3 user, I'm not a new video user:
From Super 8 films , to VHS camrecorder, to miniDv...
I am now using a Canon Legria HF200.
I started video editing with Pinnacle product (VHS period),
Then used Magix VDL ( MiniDV period)

At this time, there is no pdf user manual for VideoStudio pro X3, but the internet help is good enough to start using VideoStudio Pro X3.

I have not found anything concerning 50 ips movies, and VideoStudio Pro. X3 says I'm using 25 ips instead of 50 ips movies. (FPS ?)
The Canon Legria HF 200 (AVCHD camrecorder) records .MTS files.
I checked it is set with 50 ips, not 25 !
I simply remove the SD card, insert it into my PC card reader, move MTS files in a video folder from the card reader. And import it in VideoStudio pro X3.
I do not use any USB connection.
Am I doing something wrong ?

I have bought X3 on line last thursday, (full version) and upgraded fonts and styles on saturday, after having red

Unfortunately, I did not count how many tiles I had before upgrading ...

I am currently editing all my super 8 movies, recorded with my new canon camrecorder. I only use simple texts to introduce and end; no music in between.
Mpeg files generated by VideoStudio pro X3 as AVCHD files are clean.
But they are in 25 ips.
Why using 50ips ? because super 8 uses 18 ips, and it is quit hard not to have a flickering effect at 25 ips (25-18= 7 herz problem)
Why not asking a private company to convert them ? it would be too expensive for me as I have more than 20 hours super 8 movies.
When I shall have finished my super 8 work, I shall start editing private family movies, as I did before with Pinnacle and Magix Products.

I'm a linux user, because Windows cannot handle my blender project ( it uses up to 12 gb ram), but I also use Windows for ... VideoStudio pro X3, because video editing software on linux do not offer many fx effects, specially concerning color management. ( I tried all of them as they are free GNU softwares)

I shall try to share my VideoStudio pro X3 experience here on this forum.

My native language is french and try to write english the best I can, but I know I do not practise English enough
