Have you guys noticed any quality difference of the burned DVDs by using the embedded DVD Factory of VSX3 compared to the MovieFactory 7? I believe that MovieFactory 7 produces better quality DVDs. What is your opinion?

A lot of our users will not have been able to purchase MF7 because of a curious marketing decision taken by Corel at the time of its release -- was it nearly two years ago? -- to restrict its distribution to IIRC Australia and Europe...
Anyway, I was one of the lucky people to have it, and like all its predecessors, I like it and still have it on my main video editing computer. Thank goodness, given the advent of its distant cousin DVD Factory 2010.
However, that being said, the two projects I have processed through DVD Factory have actually turned out decent products. My main complaints about it are the incredibly long times it takes for nearly every step, the lack of choice about not building a menu, and the incredible opacity of its various steps. Limited templates is only peripheral in this sense.
I confess that those two projects were also high definition -- HDV to AVCHD folders. So the end quality was inevitably going to be high, with any quality loss possibly not easily detectable by the human eye.
But I too would be interested in any comments from people using SD to SD or HD to SD...

Ken when I said that MovieFactory 7 produces better quality DVDs, I must agree with you that there is not really that big difference but I don't know for me it just looks a bit better. I see that you also noticed that it takes DVD Factory incredibly long times for nearly every step. That is really something that must be addressed by Corel (amongs other things ofcourse).
In the meantime I use VideoStusio X3 for editing and MovieFactory 7 for DVDs and very soon for Blurays.

And I would heartily agree that that is a good combination of programs. The only drawback is that MF7 cannot recognise X3 projects. So you of course need to render an edited project in X3 to a single output video file of whatever format, and then use that in MF7. But that is largely our recommended procedure in any case!
