I created a video project using some HD clips from my camcorder. If I output the project to AVC-HD DVD-R, it would take 2 discs. On a Blu-ray disc, it would be 1.
I would like to be able to use this one project to output to two targets. I would like to mark where the split would be and insert a "Insert Disc 2 to Continue" like message. When I burn to Blu, it wouldn't be there.
Have can I achieve this? Does DVD Factory Pro have a facility to aid with this task?
VS X3 Pro: AVC-HD Split DVD & Blu-ray from 1 Project?

Pardon my levity, but "Ha ha ha ha ha!!!" No, DVD Factory 2010 does not have such a facility. In fact it doesn't have many facilities at all. But then again, more seriously, nor did any of its predecessors.
But I can't understand why you are insisting on having just one project. You have all your video in the timeline, and you save it, say, as project "Blu-Ray Disc". Then you go to File > Save As, and you save it again as, say, project "AVCHD Hybrid". There's no magic -- and certainly no video -- in a project file.
So with the second project file open on your timeline, you make your break, and delete everything after the break. You add your message, then Save As > "Hybrid Disc 1". Then close that project and reopen project "AVCHD Hybrid". You make the cut at the same spot, but this time you delete all the first half. Then save what is left as "Hybrid Disc 2. Then you can proceed to burn AVCHD hybrid discs to DVD.
But of course you still have your project "Blu-Ray Disc". So open that, do any final editing, or none if it is ready, and simply burn it to BD disc.
I think you may be worried that with all the cuts etc in the AVCHD project(s) you are affecting the video in the other BD project. But you arent't. The original video always remains unchanged on your computer. The project files don't contain video. They are just text files telling the program what video is included in the project, where it is located on your computer and -- *for the purposes of that particular project* -- what editing was done to it.

Thank you Ken for a thorough reply. Saving as multiple projects is a good idea. My only fear was needing to make last minute changes and having to adjust the other projects. I think it won't be bad. Just modify the master project (Blu-ray) and then recreate the disc 1 and/or 2 projects. The only other choice i see is replicating changes from one project to another, which is possible for small changes.
