X3 Audio Tracks 2 & 3 Not Saved

Post by pkalen »

I have a project where X3 has failed to save any objects in "Music Track #2". One object was an MP3 and the other was an M4A. After saving the project and opening it later, "Music Track #2" was empty.

Thought I had screwed up, so I put them back in place and saved again. Same result.

Then I started several new projects for testing. One project was saved correctly and the rest were not.

Just be aware, your work in the extra audio tracks (#2 #3) may not be saved.

Below is the email thread with Corel Support for this issue.

It appears like maybe it's not just me.

For those who report an issue, just be persistant and not let them off the hook with their canned response "Update the program".

I reluctantly connected my video computer to the internet. Even went to the "Get More" button and had it check for updates. It reported that no updates were available. I did some more testing just in case an update was loaded while I was connected. Same results. I find it difficult to believe I have a unique situation that would cause this error.

Just in case it means anything, version # 13.6.0.272

What next?

Dear Mr Kalen,

Thank you very much for your e-mail.

Is your computer connected to the internet when you run the program? If not, can you try to do so?
Better if you could open the Corel Guide for a few minutes to let the program update some of the minor files.

Please do not hesitate to contact us for any further questions.

Kind regards,

[VS Pro X3] Audio tracks (2 & 3) not saved

Post by ledouxjustin »

Hi,

I'm new to video studio pro x3.
I have made a project with a video and three audio tracks.
If I close the application and re open the project, only the first audio track is loaded.
The others audio tracks are lost.
It's a bit annoying !
I have searched in parameters and preferences without find a solution.

Have you ever encountered this problem ?

Thanks for your help ...

It's possible that rather than being lost it's that you can't see them. Hit the track mananger button and make sure that audio tracks are all ticked for viewing.

I've found a solution !
The X2 version was also installed.
This previous version allows only one audio track.
Apparently, the X2 and X3 don't cohabit very well.

Re: X3 Extra audio tracks (#2 #3) may not be saved

Post by billseifert »

(Copied here from another post of mine today.) I am another sad owner of Version 3 of what was the best video software I've run across:

For all the previous versions of VS I always ran into the need for extra sound tracks. Now I upgraded and purchased VS 3 because extra sound (music) tracks are now available. Today I gleefully used them, only to find that after saving my project, leaving it, and returning to it results in total loss of all my work on tracks 2 & 3. I tried several things including rebooting. After three laborious re-dos, I gave up. What am I missing? Am I the only one who can't save tracks 2 & 3? The narration and #1 music tracks continue to work as before.

Please help.

Not 100% accurate, as I not only have X2, but also 11.5+ installed along with X3. I've tried over the last couple of days to replicate this, and can not. I can create a project, place audio in all tracks, 2 tracks, 3 or whatever, close and then reopen the project, and all the audio tracks and audio placed are intact...

I do note that I'm not running Win7, so that may be the key to this problem.

Perry,
Could you please go to the User Control Panel, and complete your system information for your profile? This could be very important in this specific case. I've tried replicating this audio track problem on my Vista and XP machines and can not. So that leads me to thinking it is tied to Win7..

I continued working with the loss of track 2 & 3 and re-entered everything again. Now when I saved the project, I even lost half of the narration track and half of the music track #1 in addition to all of track 2 & 3. I am mortified!

What is going on?

Hmmm... Curious. I have tested it with X3 on my Windows 7 32 bit machine, and it works perfectly. Mind you, the project I constructed as a test was fast an dirty, with an odd assortment of video in the timelines, and music files chosen at random (most mp3s) and thrown into music tracks 1, 2 and 3 and some narration I did for another project in the voice track. I saved and closed the project and when I reopened it, everything was there where it should be. This also happened when I closed X3, then reopened it and started the project again. I did this four times, and also changed some of the audio files around. But each time I reopened the project, all the files were where they were supposed to be. The only thing I haven't tested is rebooting the computer, since I am currently also doing some work which I need to get back to quickly.

But there is obviously something else wrong, and not Windows 7...

In fact, I decided that I wanted a scotch and soda more than I wanted to get back to work. So while I was making one, I rebooted the computer. On opening X3 and the project again, everything was still in place. So I too am unable to replicate the problem.

FWIW as extra information for the sake of completeness, my X3 is installed on my K: drive (not the system drive) and the working folder is on my E: drive (also not my system drive). You can see my computers specs in my profile.

As I have just reported in another thread, I have tried to replicate the problem with X3 on Windows 7 32 bit, but have not been able to -- see http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 88#p197788
