Flash on video

Post by weaver »

Yesterday during editing I found an interesting effect.

I recorded a flash from still cameras on the tape. The scene was very nice, so tried to include into the recent film.
During this processing I found out that the flash is recorded on 3 frames in row on the tape (with different intensity).
How is it possible, when we know that the still camera flash is definitively shorter than 1/60s?

Any idea or explanation?

How do you know the still camera flash is definitively less than 1/60s?

I record video and I've also found that different cameras, in different modes and different flashes will result in different lengths (in time) of light being produced.

From the very old times, when we manually had to adjust our cameras to get correct flash pictures. The flash itself is much shorter (close to 1/1000 sec), and just because of the trigger delay the camera shutter must be open for about 1/50 s.
