Video filters

Post by weaver »

Are there some new video filters to upgrade my VS10+?

I am looking for STAR Filters (I forget to add to my camera during recording... :( ).

Any idea how can I create similar effects in VS (I also have the X2).

Thank you very much.

Yes, there are NewBlueFX filters in X3 (some differnet than in X2). Not exactly sure what a Star filter is, but there are various light filters in v10, X2, and X3.

Thank you. The STAR filter what creates star light effect on brigth light spots (6 and more arms) typical for many concert videos. I did not find such effect on VS10+, I will check if there is any on X2.

Here is the HW version what I forgot to attach to my camera:

VS v10, as well as X2 and X3, do indeed have a star filter. While it doesn't automatically place the star on bright spots, you can certainly position it anywhere you want it.

Hi thank you, but those filters are not the same as this effect.
This effect follows the light spots (if the light is moving) and change the intensity when the ligth is slightly out of focus (look at the water there is a small effect in comparison to the big star on the boat).
Anyway I go to create some the required effects with the star filter in the VS.

And you can make the light filter in VS follow whatever you want using the keyframes. You can also vary the size, intensity, and color the same way.

Yes I did - almost over the whole night, as each star is an individual effect and each star must be configured and controlled individually. Thanks God I had just 6 main light spots...... :D

Hi Ken
If you just put you clip or image into the timeline drag the "Star" filter to the clip/image. Click on customise and all the adjust, ments will be revealed. Just edit the start move it tp where you want on the fist keyframe then advance the clip, move the str to a new position and hit the "add keyframe" icon to form a new keyframe. Keep doing this with as many keyframes as you wish.
P.S. I'm sure there is a keyboard shortcut to creating a key frame but ca't remember it.

Here is a snapshot from my exercise.
Unfortunately the editor window is too small for exact work, so it is a challenge to follow the lights.

I take it the "Star" effect is only going to last a few seconds, it might be practical to export the short bit of video as an image sequence file, use an image editor and then import it back as a video.

These links might be useful - it all depends upon the duration - too long and it would be too laborious.

MediaStudio/VideoStudio: Use A Video Sequence File
and
Corel PhotoImpact X3:Create starburst effect

Thanks.

Finally I also reduced the effect to about 5-8 sec. It would be no problem, when the editor window would be bigger. At the current size it is extremelly difficult to follow the motion (to set the proper key frames and position the effects).

I have recently 'discovered' the LIGHT FILTER and it is very useful. After dragging it onto a clip in the timeline, click on 'customize filter' and you can do whatever you need to with it.
