VideoStudio, make mouth move on JPG picture to a voice audio

Post by goneblue »

Hello, This is my first time here. I have no experience. I need to find a way to move lips on a still picture in sync with an added voice. Something like the TV commercials of the baby talking.

I have Videostudio 11.5+ with no plugins. Is it possible? I read on a blog about someone doing it with videostudio, but I have no idea if it can be done, or the steps to do it?

Thank you so much for your time and effort. Goneblue

One way I can think of is to record the person talking, tight enough that you are focused on the mouth. Put that on the main track.

For your still pic you will have to colorize the mouth area (in a photo editing app) so it can be keyed out in VS. Put that on any overlay track. That will put the still pic on top of the video clip.

You will then have to aligned the two so the mouths line up.

I don't want to rain on your parade and I take my hat off to your enthusiasm but.... what you want to do sounds a bit heavy for someone who admits to being a novice. It sort of sounds like trying to run before you can walk. Do you not think that doing something a bit simpler might be better at this stage of your learning curve?

Whilst there is a saying "reach for the sky and you will hit the ceiling, reach for the ceiling and you won't get off the ground."
there is another that says, "Better to do a good job of something simple than a bad job of something hard."

What you intend to do is something that will require time and patience.

Jeff's idea sounds interesting, I will also try it somewhere... just let me one step: to apply the NewBlueFx cartoon filter (free) to the mouth , to give a better surrealistic effect :-)

I value your honesty. I am known for taking hard jobs and solving problems. But to do this job, may have a long learning curve, so I will investigate If there is an easier way. I have VideoRedo and use it to edit and burn recorded TV programs.

The more I learn about Video editing the more fun and interesting it is. I just had a small project that would be fun. I had major surgery and have a giant open wound. A friend painted a face on it, using the wound as a mouth. I wanted to have fun and make it talk and put it on YouTube.

I will spend some time and try to figure it out.

Thanks so much for your time people.

I've never done anything like that, but it sounds like a morphing or distortion effect. I found a couple of FREE animated morphing/distortion programs listed at TheFreeCountry.com.

There is another FREE animation program (which I've never used) called Blender. It appears to be a very powerful program, but I don't know if it can animate a photo.

You can find more morphing/distortion software if you search and you might also do a search for "photo animation" to see what you can find.

You might need some regular photo editing software too... For example, you may need to combine two distorted versions of the image to get both upper and lower lips, etc.
