Have you got a link to this patch? When you say you did accept this patch, have you installed it?

I got this patch a few days ago, and I am not sure how. When I opened X3, I simply got a dialogue box saying a patch was available and did I want to install it. I accept -- though I had not seen anything about it before. I had been travelling overseas for a couple of weeks and assumed I must have missed a reference to it. Anyway, it installed in a flash.

Corel has advised me it is a small update for which needed to modify a DLL which was timing out the software.

It does not apparently change the version number of which was and remains 13.6.0 272...

This patch is very puzzling.
1. Cannot find it on the Corel Website.
2. Does not automatically appear in VideoStudio (at least not on my computers) so you have to search for it. You find it by clicking the flower shape at the top right of the screen to bring up the "Corel Guide"
Even then it is not obvious because you now click the other flower shape on the Corel Guide where you will find "Check for updates."
3. Now here is a puzzler, when I did the above on my desktop computer it downloaded "the" update.
When I did this on my laptop computer I was informed "no new updates available."

Maybe Corel wishes to see whether the few "brave" users who downloaded this misterious patch will experience new bugs & issues... and later on, release a final patch on the website :-) Just dreaming ? :-|

Anyway, so far I experienced a lot of weird behavior with X3, but basically I have been able to fix all of them, identifying which part of my current project (which was originally started in VS X2, and maybe this might be one of the root causes...) is creating the problems.

Nevertheless, I really hope Corel will improve their SW error management, because, whatever the rendering/editing engines detects some "problems" in the project, the SW should not crash or randomly come out with puzzling messages like "No mpeg decoder found" or similar...
I still hope at Corel the SW engineers will understand how frustrating is to let the rendering running during the night and then, the next morning, to find some malfunction "surprise" with no way to detect what went wrong... being left only with a project thorough and very time-consuming debug option, i.e., retrying and nailing down part of the projects till the "bad one" comes out (without even knowing why that one is "bad"...)

Patch might be Smartsound support

Post by ljr »

Perhaps the patch is related to the following email I received from SmartSound support on March 2/10:

"We are aware of this issue with version 5.1.5 of the Quicktracks plugin for Corel VS X3. We actually just delivered an update to version 5.1.6 to Corel last night. Corel should be posting it somewhere on their website in the next few days or so and it should correct the popping issue. If you also have Sonicfire Pro 5 installed, you should be able to use the music in Sonicfire Pro 5 without any problems. This might be a temporary solution until Corel has posted the 5.1.6 update."

I don't think the update had anything to do with SmartSound. To repeat my post above:
Corel has advised me it is a small update for which needed to modify a DLL which was timing out the software.

During Beta Testing there was a problem with Smartsound which got passed on to Sonic. They informed us that they had released a patch. That patch installed itself when I next ran Smartsound from within the program, not via the "Get More" system.

I believe that SmartSound has released another patch so that their multi-layered albums will play without clipping as they presently do. I am unable to update the Quicktracks plugin from within the SmartSound Quicktracks screen found in the "automusic" section. I also am not offered any updates through the "GetMore" screen. It checks for updates and then reports that none are available at this time...
