VS Pro x2 crashes while burning DVD disc and ISO file

Post by middlebury madness »

Had a quick little project to do. Put 5 minutes of video transferred from movie film onto DVD from dv tape with three clips/chapters. No menu.

I haven't had any problems in a long time and have made no changes to computer except my son borrowed my internal SATA cable that goes to one of my DVD burners then replaced it while I was away. I did notice that the D & E drives were switched?????

Anyhow I have tried direct disc burning.... it crashes

Burning to ISO file ... it crashes...

Uninstalled and reinstalled software.... it crashed

Updated patches.... it crashed

Updated Directx ... it crashed

It crashes at the same spot...18% total and 50% of Converting Title at approx 1 min 51 sec

I am at wits end.... just when I finish telling people how great I find Video Studio and recommend it it does something like this to me...

Any ideas

PS. The Drives both work in other programs. I am using XP that has all its latest updates.

If it always crashes at the same spot I would look at what is going on in your clip at that particular time.

It is in the second clip of avi video which I captured in VS. They are straight FX crossfades for transitions between clips. which I always use.

Believe me This is so low tech/non creative or complicated that I am totally baffled.

I would take out any transitions, fx, or audio that is at that point and try to render again. If it works, then add them back in 1 at a time to, hopefully, find the culprit.

I took the raw clip removed the part I did not want at the beginning then sent it to share. Again tried to make a ISO file... this time I marked chapters in share mode then burned. It got to 99% complete and crashed. Could I be missing a patch or will the Patch 2 cover everything?

You need to install ALL patches, patch 2 does not contain anything from patch 1.

I will do that. also I will update my video drivers. I read something about that which could cause problems.
