x3 The best pic format for HD

Post by bagordon »

Hi all, i have taken video with my hd helmet cam which has very good quality as a raw image. But when i try to edit it to any format i lose quality?
The image is shot in mov. 1280 x 720 at 720p 59 frames.
Should i edit in the same format?
Any help would be good thanks.

Hi Barry and Welcome.
I shouldn't worry too much with your Project properties, what is important is what you save to. Lets know your workflow. After editing are you burning to a disc or saving to a video file or what? It would also be helpful if you completed your System details. For this look at the Sticky post at the top of this Forum called "Please read this before posting"

Hi Barry

Welcome to the forum

Video Studio uses a process called Smart Proxy, this allows VS to cope with the larger files of HD video. Go To Settings ¡V Smart Proxy Manager and make sure this option is selected.
The quality of the project playback should improve, but may not be as good as the final rendered video.
The speed and efficiency of your pc has a bearing on this, can you update your profile to include your pc¡¦s specification., being available to us under the system tab of this post.

Mov files

There are many, many types, Video Studio does have problems with some of them.
Right click a clip and view the video properties. (mine is Compression Photo ¡V Jpeg at 1280 x 720)

You do not say what you intend to do with the final video, create a DVD or post to the web (You Tube)
For you tube I converted to Flash *.flv files. ( check You Tube recommendations)

So
Is your video poor quality only with project playback or after the final rendering?
