DVD menu creation options

Post by uhill »

I have VS9 and like it. It works well and I have no problems. The DVD menu creation options however are very, very, very limited. Do I need to buy a separate product to be able to customize DVD menu? If so, which one?
Do I have to pay another $99 to be able to change the size of the thumbnail windows and the position of the titles and thumbnails?

You are restricted to template menus in Videostudio. If you want to build completely custom menus, you canget DVD Workshop.

Is it possible to import DVD customized menus to VS9?

Customized using what? My understanding is that templates in UFO format from other Ulead programs will work in Videostudio.

While I would agree that the menu customisation is not the best in the world it is a long way from being "very very very limited" - are you sure you have explored all of the customising options available for the DVD menus ??

There may be the possibilty that you can modify the .ufo with Ulead PhotoImpact.

Does it make sense for me to purchase Movie Factory? I have VS9. What will I gain for additional $99 spent? Is there anybody here who has both?

I have both, but I have all the Ulead stuff.

DVDMF is a great set of tools. I encode my MP3 and WMA for my minidisc, rip CDs for my projects, make and print labels, and write quickie discs (I have DVDWS2 for my DVD authoring.

I do some *down and dirty* converting to MPEG2 via DVDMF and then to disc for some jobs (one job paid 15-times the cost of the software :) ).

There are all sorts of bargains for the sw and I recommend it to most folks, but if the menu creation and burning is all you want, and VS9 gives you what you want and need, then I would stay with what you have.
