Hi Richard
QT¡K¡K¡K¡K.Do not get confused with these initials.
QT is normally referring to Quick Time, as in Apple Quick Time, its a media player. iTunes and all that. You do need Quick Time installed.
Smart Sound QuickTracks are the files relating to the Auto Music supplied with Video Studio.

Thanks for pointing that out but I knew there was a difference. Regardless, I did a clean reinstall of VS, QT & SSQT yesterday, then everything fell in place as it should. There was apparently some issue with SSQT - perhaps because it was not reinstalled when I reinstalled VS about a month ago.
There is still an issue remaining. This is the 11.5 Plus version with a bonus content CD. How does one get the extra music, sounds, video & image files off of that CD into SSQT &/or VS? The "New Standard 22K" music auto loaded OK during the re installation. However there isn't a clue how to make use of these extras in anything published or offered by Ulead. Apparently they figure all of their customers are IT Wizards who know how.

Hi Richard
The Bonus CD usually contains additional software, maybe a DVD player (Win DV
It is not normal for the bonus cd to auto install its content.
You may be able to Auto run the bonus CD but this will only allow you to view the samples and save them to the hard drive.
From here you import them to your library in the same way you import any file.

Hi Trevor,
Maybe I'm missing some thing, but it doesn't make sense to me that non-music extras would be imported into the SS Quick Tracks libraries.
I'm thinking that SSQT is for music or sounds only. Is that wrong?
Now I'm confused again. To what library would one import the bonus video & image clip files? When you say "Library" I'm thinking AutoMusic - since that's the subject we have been discussing. From here you import them to your library in the same way you import any file.

No -- the bonus material goes into the relevant 'libraries' associated with that type of file: video, images, music etc. So if you have already identified some place in Program Files\Corel\ where there are other files of a similar type, simply transfer them there. Or create new folders ('libraries') with names you recognise, anywhere on your computer. It does not matter where they are as long as you know where they are. Then, just like the video you filmed and captured yourself, or audio you already have on your computer for others purposes, you simply navigate to wherever you have those files stored and import them ("Insert") into VS...

I hope I am not muddying the waters here, but going from memory I don't think there are any "bonus" SmartSound Quicktracks. What automatically installed is what you get with VS. The bonus disc may very well contain other audo files, but they are not SmartSound, but just "normal" sound files (i.e. wav, mp3, etc.)

Ken & Jeff,
Ken is right regarding the way I was thinking about additional media on the bonus CD. I understand that SSQT music has an .sds extension - while nothing on the bonus CD does.
Regardless, thanks to Ken & Trevor's help, I have been able to figure out how to import video, image & sound files into appropriate VS libraries. Like anything, once you have grasped the basics of how things work, the rest comes easily.

Going back to one of your earlier replies wher eyou mention that you have
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINDOWS\
rather than
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\
This tells me that at some time in the past you re-installed windows leaving your old windows installation in place. When you do this, during installation if Windows finds a folder already exists when it is about to create one
e.g. it is going to create
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\
but that folder already exists, then it adds .Windows to the folder name, thus you end up with
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINDOWS\
It gets even more complicated if you install it again, only ever did it once - deliberately to find out what happens, but it was a long time ago and I have now forgotten!
