Importing video into DVD Factory 2010

Post by stelch »

I have VideoStudio x3 and I do not know how to import a video file into MoivieFactory 10. When I launch MF 10 and I go to Import then I suppose you go to my computer to find the file? If so I can never find any video files there. AM I doing something wrong?

Apart from anything else, you have got the name all wrong! You will notice I have amended the title of your original message which refers, as does your message to a program called 'MF10' which does not exist. I am being very careful about this because there is, regrettably, absolutely no link between Ulead/Corel Movie Factory (MF) -- the latest version of which is MF7 (or 6 in some countries) -- and the current abomination we have been presented with by Corel: Corel DVD Factory 2010...

That being said, as for your question, it is covered in DVD Factory's Help... For ease of reference:

"To start a video disc project

1 In the Action Bar, click Create.

2 Choose Video Disc.

3 Enter your project name and your desired project details.

4 Click on a style tab and choose a menu style.

5 If you have already added media files from the Media Organizer to the Media Tray, go to Step 7.

If you have not yet added files from the Media Organizer to the Media Tray, click Select photos and videos.

6 Choose items from the Media Organizer, and drag them to the Media Tray.

7 Click Go to menu editing to create/edit titles, soundtracks, styles, menu transitions, decorations and background.

To select an object, click on it. Hold the [Ctrl] key to click multiple objects. You can move the selected objects.

You can also modify the font style, size, and color of captions and scene texts directly on the interface using the floating text toolbar.

8 To preview your menu, click Play. "

I wouldn't feel too bad about it, I have problems getting videos onto the "Media Tray" so you are not alone. It is not user friendly and is very cumbersome. Corel are working on some solutions to the problem.

Hi stelch

When I first used 2010 the options at the top of the first window did not exist. (import, create, copy, share¡K¡K¡K¡K)
I saw the option lower right ¡¥Cancel¡¦ and ¡¥Select Photos and Videos¡¦ being the obvious choice.
This takes you to the media library, unfortunately this is empty with no way to add files.
The menu options to the left did nothing.

From the first window try hitting Cancel
From what I remember this took you to an import window showing the top menu (import, create, copy, share¡K¡K¡K¡K)
Now I could browse the hard drive.

This does not occur again and subsequent use of 2010 is ok.

Thanks Ken for the help here. Sorry that I confused MovieFactory with DVDFactory
Well I got stack on your point 6:
6 Choose items from the Media Organizer, and drag them to the Media Tray.
I could not access my hard drives to locate the video I wanted.
but thanks to Trevor after quite some time I managed!
What a cumbersome program, I will stick to MovieFactory7 that I know and it works.

When I first came across this in the Beta Version I advised Corel that a more user friendly way would be to simply use the well known tried and trusted Windows File Manager, understood by (almost) everyone and extensively used in the majority of Windows Programs.
