text + preset shape tool

Post by Ken Veal »

I dragged a prest shape onto the image( elipical speech bubble) so that it pointed to a persons head.I then added text, to my surprise it followed the shape of the preset which I wanted but the text is on the outside. It also is upside down at the end of the text where it follows the shape around. How do I get the text inside the preset PSPro X..................Ken

You can either place the text somewhere else when you write it and then drag the text into the speech bubble.

Or you can hold the Alt key before clicking in the speech bubble.

What you'll notice is that when you put the text tool over a speech bubble the icon changes from an A to an A at an angle following a curve. When this happens Paint Shop Pro is telling you it'll connect the text to the curve of the object.

If you hold down the Alt key though the icon for the tool won't change and you can click inside the speech bubble without worry.

If the text is backwards while following the shape.
Place your preset shape into the canvas. Select the text tool. Right click on the shape, and choose reverse path. There is also a reverse contour as that may be helpful to you also.

If the text is set up to high or to low on the path. Select the text tool. In the text tool options, set the offset to 0. Try going up or down with the offset to get the placement where you want it. You can type in your offset numbers. Example 5 or -5

Hope this helps.
