I¡¦m using VS X2 on an XP laptop that comes from where I work. I¡¦m just finishing my annual bout of editing and, with appalling timing, my laptop¡¦s got a problem and has to be rebuilt in the next day or so. I won¡¦t finish the project in time, so I need to remove the program and data files, with a view to reinstating them in a few days. Is there anything I need to do beyond:
- Back-up the original input files: ie video, images and audio (taking note of the file & folder names)
- Back-up the project file (ie *.vsp)
I¡¦d rather err on the side of caution than find I¡¦ve got to spend hours and hours re-editing because I haven¡¦t backed something up. I¡¦m nervous that it won¡¦t be able to re-link the project to the scenes in the two input tapes.
I¡¦ll be backing-up onto an external hard disk, so space isn¡¦t a major problem. (I¡¦ll copy the smaller files onto DVDs / USB sticks as well).,
Michael

No need to do all that. Just go to File>Smart Package and VS will create that for you.- Back-up the original input files: ie video, images and audio (taking note of the file & folder names)
- Back-up the project file (ie *.vsp)
