Hi all, does anyone know how to convert the default tmp audio files into MP3 or .wav files. I'd like to do some voiceovers using the backing tracks provided by video studio, but want to use an external programme for the voice as video studio's audio functions are not all that great!
Can't seem to find any conversion utilities for tmp on the web...do Corel make these audio files available in any other format anywhere??
Thanks in advance.
Regards
Mr B.

Isn't the tmp file a temporary file?
I can't get to VS at the moment, but can you not save the file as an audio only file, such as a wav, which you can then edit.
Or, depending on your audio app, lots will take a video file such as dv.avi or wmv and automatically just utilise the audio section.
Or, just use your audio app to make your voice over, add it to VS and lower the background audio in VS.

Re: Audio conversion?
Where are these tmp files located? The included audio files that come with VS x2 which I believe is what you are using, are mpa format which you can easily convert to wav by using the Save audio file feature but why do you need to?Mr B wrote:Hi all, does anyone know how to convert the default tmp audio files into MP3 or .wav files. It would help if you went to this link as requested in one of your previous posts. It saves us going through you previous posts trying to find what version of VS you have. It is important that we have your Operating system too so filling in your profile will take the guesswork out in the future.

I'd be interested to know where you seeing these tmp files Mr B, as Graham says tmp is the universally accepted extension for temporary files not music or sound files.
When I look through the Audio files supplied with VideoStudio all I see are .mpa files - any other sound files such as ones I have created by microphone or recording are .wav files and all of these are easily exported to any sound editor for processing.

Hi all, thanks for your answers. I needed to export the audio files into a separate software package so that I could sync up with my voiceover (which I don't want to record using VS).
The tmp files are located within the videostudio sub folder. I do not appear to have any .wma files anywhere?? In any case, I just realised following from what has been said that I can easily export audio from VS as a .wav file using the 'create audio file' option!
...now I know.
I wouldn't have worked that out if a couple of you hadn't of mentioned it, so many thanks.

I'm guessing that you have Windows XP. If so go to C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel Video Studio 12\Content\Audio and I think you will see you mpa files there. They must be on you PC otherwise how can the software produce a temporary file for them?
PLEASE PLEASE fill in your "System" on your profile so we don't have to keep guessing. If you have Windows 7 then the above path is no good!!!!!
