Movie Wizard appends projects
I am using the Movie Wizard in VS11+ to create a slide show and it's fantastic.
I have a problem though in that whenever I save the compiled project, it appends to another unfinished project that I created using the wizard, rather than on it's own timeline. Just before it does this, a message warns that "your movie will be created as a new project or appended to the current project in ULead Video Studio Editor for further editing". The problem is that it is never created as a new project - it is always appended.
I have tried saving an empty project first, hoping that it would add to this empty timeline, but instead it appends to the previous project. I have tried closing VS and starting with a blank timeline (no open project), but still it appends to the previous project.
The warning message appears with a help "?", but nothing happens when I click on it.
Every time I try, the original project just gets longer and longer!
In case it is significant, the project properties are:
PAL (25 fps)
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 576, 25 fps
Lower Field First
(DVD-PAL), 4:3
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8000 kbps)
LPCM Audio, 48000 Hz, Stereo
Hope someone can help.
Don.

Hi Don
Never heard of this one before.
I have tried with VS 10 and have no problems, sorry I don¡¦t have VS 11.
Have you updated all patches associated with VS11 from the Corel site?
And updated Direct X from the link at the top of this forum.
Have you tried using the Wizard from the splash / start screen. That way the main program is not open till you finish the Wizard, don¡¦t know why it would make any difference but maybe worth a go.

I also have not come across this. I have VS 11.5+ installed on my XP machine. I've tried everything I can think of to replicate this, however can not.
It seems as though something has become corrupt with your program. Do you have the boxed or ESD (download) version? If possible try to first do a repair re-install. If you're not able to, you probably will have to do a clean re-install.

Thank you for your responses.
Yes, I have the latest updates and have now obtained the Direct X too. I have also tried opening the program from the Start menu, rather than the desktop shortcut. I do also begin with an empty timeline. But to no avail! (By the way, I'm using Vista and obtained my VS11+ via download).
I have made a discovery, which may assist in overcoming this. I have chosen the duration option to "fit to background music tempo and duration". I then added 31 minutes of music. ULead seems to have kept repeating the slides to "fill up" the available time, rather than lengthening the display time of each slide. I found this out when I chose only 11 minutes of music and it just repeated a dozen or so slides.
So, perhaps there is limited flexibility in how far it will "stretch" the slide show to fit the music.
Could this be the case, and if so, what should I do to get the music and slide durations to match, as I'd find it difficult to match pieces of music exactly to the duration of the slide show.
Thanks again,
Don

Hi
So the program is not adding the wizard to an existing VSP.
Its merely using images over again, I do not use the wizard that much but think this is normal.
The image duration set in File ¡V Preferences may have a bearing on the duration used by the wizard.
If you haven¡¦t changed this it may be worth a try.
I think it¡¦s a trial and error with regards to the wizard, to see what the different options gives.

Thank you for your response.
Yes, the program is not adding the wizard to an existing project as I had originally thought. Sorry, I was fooled by the message which says "Appending Movie Wizard Project..." and the duplication of images that I saw in the resultant slide show. As you suggest, it appears that this duplication is how the program caters for the varying durations of music chosen. I had expected the slide durations themselves to lengthen/shorten as required, rather than for the slides to be repeated.
Thanks for your advice on the manual setting of slide duration. I'll work with this and try to get music that matches the show duration.
Thanks,
Don.

Thanks for your advice. Yes, selecting "Fit to background music tempo" avoids duplicating slides. It does however fade out the music when the slides have all been shown.
It seems that the program will not provide an exact match between the length of the music and length of the slides, but what you're suggesting seems to be a better option.
Many thanks,
Don.
