Good Idea .. maybe a sticky with a Default and Install and some pics as above?

At least we should then know what we SHOUL have and what we have...:-)

Hi all,

I've been away from the forum for quite some time. Nice to be back, however I find myself in exactly the same boat as Kiwi Bob and others who are lacking the ability to acquire additional content. In my case, it's the upgrade download version. Lacking any better ideas, I suppose I'll enter a trouble ticket and see what Corel support has to say. Aaarrrggg!!!

I've just gotten off the phone with Corel tech-support. Hopefully the following isn't redundant, but here is what I was told...

The "Do More/Get More" buttons will not be present immediately after installing your purchased version of the software. After launching VSX3, the user must wait for the software registration screen to appear. This screen will not necessarily be offered upon the first launch. In any case, once it has appeared the user must successfully complete the registration process. Thereafter, the "Do More/Get More" buttons should appear within "a few days". They will be accessible via the "Share" tab, then selecting the "Create Disk" option, and finally clicking the "Help and Product Information" icon located in the upper right of the UI.

Hoping to expedite this inconvenience, I inquired about the possibility of download links but was told they would only consider it if the standard method failed. I was told to re-contact them 3 days from now if things haven't happened by then.

Wow, great customer service, huh? NOT! Although I was tempted, I opted to avoid adding insult to injury and did not ask my representative for his thoughts on the outcome of yesterday's Olympic hockey game... lol! ;-)

Hope this is helpful to those who are wondering about their missing content.

This waiting period is totally absurd. They don't provide any sort of answer as to why. I can understand, holding the feature until after registration. That is automatic once you clicked on the register button or link. The button should be there immediately following registration, not 3-days, 1-week, 10-days or whatever.

Yes, no question the registration window should appear with first launch of the program. Lacking that, it seems ridiculous that there isn't a "register now" button somewhere in the UI.

As an aside, during my conversation with tech-support, it was mentioned that if the user is given the registration window and opts to tick the "do not register" box, the "Do More/Get More" links will never appear. In such a case, the user would need to reinstall VSX3 in order for the proggy to automatically generate a new registration window. They really should make it clear that opting to not register will have consequences. There are bound to be many users who will pass on the registration thinking the fact that they've successfully installed VSX3 with a valid serial number is enough. Why Corel deems it necessary to over-complicate this registration process is beyond my comprehension.

Why did they not just "give" us the bonus material with the original download or on the installation DVD. This method is a very poor way to treat your customers.

Dunno... with previous download versions they included links with the buyer's registration email letter. I assume this was done to minimize the size of the main program download. It worked just fine and I think most folks were quite happy with the procedure.

In theory, the new method allows them to offer additional content, software updates, etc., from within the UI but why we have to wait for the initial material is a mystery. It's been a day and a half and I haven't yet seen the registration window. IMO there's no excuse for it!

But no doubt it was a bit faster than Corel's new content procedure

I guess the 'GET MORE' has a mind of its own and will appear when there are downloads to be had ?

It appears Corel employs some genuine idiots. I use here the word 'idiot' not as an insult, but rather trying to describe mental condition that made up such features... :/ Hard to call it any other way.
Now I think I should ask myself a question- do I want to have anything to do with software created by idiots?

My post above showing the LACK OF GET MORE was to show that I have registered and downloaded using the GET MORE but it seems to have now removed itself?

The GET MORE button(s) will disappear once you have downloaded and installed all the content. When and if they have more content, the buton(s) will reappear.

The saga continues...

I still haven't seen the GET MORE button (or the registration screen) so this morning I gave Corel tech-support another try. This time I was given an entirely new story:

According to the rep I spoke with today, there are no content download links available, even to users who are having difficulties. After our conversation, the agent sent an email with Corel's new installation zapper attached. This version works only for the newer products, i.e.; PSPX3, VSX3 and such. As instructed, I uninstalled VSX3 and ran the zapper. By default, it generates an uninstall log, the results of which leave no doubt that many registry entries are in fact left behind by the standard uninstaller. Anyway, I was then told to reinstall VSX3 and that after doing so, the GET MORE button should be immediately available. But of course it was not. I was then instructed to once again uninstall VSX3 and create a new Windows user account on my PC for the next re-install. Somehow they seem convinced that installing in the new acct will resolve the problem. If I opt to move forward with it I will definitely post the results.

As a long-time Ulead/Corel customer who has been through many ups and downs with their various programs, I have to say that this has been my most frustrating experience to date. IMO Corel has opened up a big can of works with this poorly executed new system. I would also add that both the reps I've spoken with have come across with a "could care less" attitude. Very disappointing indeed!
