X2 - Creating MOV file with Stereo Sound
Hello All,
I helped a friend make a short video to enter in a Film Festival. They wanted it in MOV format at high quality settings. I figured they were going to use an Apple laptop to play through a projector. I made inquiries and that's exactly what they are going to do.
I also had to maintain 16:9 Aspect Ratio so when converting from SD DV-AVI format getting the pixel dimensions was crucial. I had no problems here by going to:
Create Video File/Custom - selecting quicktime, adjusting the pixel domensions.
However, when trying to customise the Sound properties, X2 would crash.
I tried this several times with the same crash problems. So I am stuck with a nice video with a horrible sounding mono sound.
Other than creating a template (which I thought of well after I delivered the DVD (data file)). Does anyone know how else I could have resolved this?

Could you use an audio editor for the sound, then import into VS?

Hi Clevo
What settings are you trying to use for your mov custom template.?
There are many compression types to choose from.
I have used X2 with no problems in creating several custom options similar to:-
QuickTime Movie Files
24 bits, 1280 x 720, 30 fps
Frame-based
Photo - JPEG
None, 8.000 KHz, 16 bits, Stereo
I am a little unsure as what audio compressor to use so left it as None.
My program never crashed during these tests.
I own a Panasonic TZ5 that uses Mov files, I will check the properties of these when I get back to my desktop pc.

I was trying out Quicktime format in VideoStudio X3 and also in another app and when I tried to modify the audio settings there was a crash. That was with Quicktime version 7.6.5.
I uninstalled 7.6.5, rebooted, then installed 7.6.2 and rebooted. That fixed the problem for me.

Hi Clevo
I mentioned I had similar problems with VS 9 to 10.
Eventually I did install the latest QT and found it worked ok, this was with my old XP system.
I don¡¦t know what files if any the older versions change, its just strange.
Maybe manually updating to the latest rather than the auto update is the way to go, a little like the Direct x update.
