Overlay Chroma Key - no fade in/out

Hello All,
I notice that when I use chroma key on the overlay track that the 'fade in' and 'fade out' functions are ghosted. Is there a quick way to overcome this ?
The only way I could overcome this was to create a video without the fade and then use the new video in my overlay track to fade in/out. The problem here is to resize this new video to the exact dimensions of the video/image in the video track.

The reson that happens is that the overlay is now part of the video. It won't have it's own seprate fade like it would if it was seprate from the video. If you want to fade in or fade out, you can fade the video itself.

I haven't tried it with chroma key, but I did put a video into the timeline and set up the transitions I wanted, then I moved it into the overlay field and when I played it, the transitions stuck. I then put another clip in the timeline and moved the overlay up into the top right hand corner and played it and the transitions perfectly on both. Therefore, even though there isn't any options for transitions in overlay, you can get them there.

Correction...
I did that with the Video Filter, not transitions. Transitions won't work, but you can render your clip with the transitions you want, then use that file for the overlay clip.

Hi,

You can have the transitions.

Put a green color the same value as the chromakey clips, fade in, transition with the key clips - remember that any transition that has a border will have the border in the overlay, fade out on green color.

Save as project.

Import project as overlay.
