Hi

In addition to Ron¡¦s findings I too have created a WMV from Mpeg without problems using XP and VS 9

I do feel it may be PC related rather than VS, although I would not rule out a clean install of VS 9.

Do you have the latest version of Windows Media installed on your pc.?
In addition do you have the Windows Media Encoder Installed?
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/window ... fault.mspx

both will install the latest Wmv codecs

Thanks for you reply, Ron. I've been away from my computer for the past few days, hence - my late response.

I am using windows XP., and I am not sufficiently familiar with the ins and outs of the machine and the software to be able to respond to questions about 'codec' etc. However, let me state it clearly: It MUST be something in my computer. I usually have NO problem saving WMVs as MPEG2 using VS9, and I couldn't find anything different in that particular movie that is giving me the troubles now. I think I'll just give up on it. Actually, I was thinking of purchasing a more advanced VS version, but I don't trust it to fix my problems.

Then download and install the TBYB version. That will give you 30 days to make up your mind.

Thanks, John, for the suggestion. I will probably do it. The trouble is that this no-sound problem may re-appear in my computer after time intervals that are longer than 30 days....

Anyway, I'll probably download an evaluation version, and base my decision on it.
