the Audio Mixing Panel

Hello MSP friends,
I¡¦m trying to understand what the difference is between an audio correction with the Audio Mixing Panel in MSP8 and a correction through ¡§Amplify¡¨ in ¡§Audio Filters¡¨. The Audio Mixing Panel enables a real time correction, but is that the only advantage? When I don¡¦t need the real time effect and only adjust the signal in track 1 of the Audio Mixing Panel from 0 to +3 db (which doubles the signal I believe), is the outcome in that case the same as with ¡§Audio Filters>>>Amplify>>>200¡¨ ? I also have the impression that a correction through the Audio Mixing Panel maximizes the signal, or is that wrong? Am I right in the assumption that ¡§Audio Mixing Panel>>>Options>>>Auto Write>>>Dub¡¨ is a non-destructive adjustment and ¡§Auto Write>>>Replacement¡¨ is destructive?
Neither the MSP8 manual nor Charlie¡¦s ¡§Getting Results¡¨ give me the answers. My audio-editor is Adobe Audition, but I hope somebody can explain the ¡§ULEAD way of thinking¡¨ to me. Regards, Wim Kok

I only ever took a brief look at the Audio Mixing panel and formed the opinion that it was a poor man's version of the free audio editor Audacity so never used it.

From my recollection this was also the view of the other Web Board members when this was discussed a couple of years ago and it seemed that Audacity was the preferred option.
