Authoring: which version removes commercials easily?

I presently use Movie Factory 4; I have no problem with upgrading to whichever version or program will do what I want, which is basically to remove commercials from some cooking programs that I have downloaded and stored.

I have never figured out if I can make multiple cuts and joins with MovieFactory 4, but it is about time I upgraded if for no other reason than the program has worked well, and I should support the company.

So do any of the latest versions easily allow one to snip out commercials from a program and join the pieces back together? Is there a different program that I need to do that?
