New to making DVDs

Post by vbl »

I currently have Ulead Movie Factory 3, and download movies from Limewire Pro. Just by shear luck, I have been able to actually make a few DVDs. I also have K-Lite codec pack and Gspot. Could someone give me a basic tutorial on the correct way to make DVDs from the movie files. I usually download avi files. The only problem I have had is usually an audio/video sync problem. The more I read about this problem, the more confused I become. Does Movie Factory convert files. Is converting the same thing as as encoding/decoding. You can see I really don't have a clue as to what I am doing. I usually render the file in Gspot, then open up Ulead MF 3 and add the video file and then edit the menu and then test it on the next screen and then record. I feel like I am missing quite a few steps that are necessary to make a quality DVD. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Essentially, yes. Moviefactory converts the video file to DVD Format. Basically DVDs are MPEG-2.
