PSP X3 keeps shutting down

Post by bulajap »

Hi everyone....
I have PSP X2 ultimate on my computer and it has been running with issues.

I purchased X3. X3 opens up OK and I can also load a photo with no problem. I am able to use the new object remover, use clone. However, when I go to the top of the screen and choose adjust and then choose an sction, such as fade correction, the action strrts and then X3 shuts down. I have reinstalled X3 several times, closeing my antivirus and firewall and the issue still continues. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong?

I have WIndows XP home, Celeron D 3.06 Ghz processor, 1.5 gig ram, and Nvidia Geoforce 6200 video card.

thank you

Check out my fix here ---> http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?t=37093

I've posted that on another forum as well and someone suggested that you go into File > Preferences > Organizer > File format exclusions, and selecting all file types.

Just for good measure also add all your drives to the Uncataloged folders list.

If this doesn't work for you let us know.

X3

Dan,
Thank you
I will reinstall X3 and try your suggestions.

Where would I add all of the drives to the Uncataloged folders list?
Where is this located?

thanks

1. Open PSPX3

2. Go to File>Preferences>General Program Preferences>Organizer>

3. In the Excluded Items section are two buttons: File Format Exclusions and Uncataloged Folders

4. Click on Uncataloged Folders, then Add, then select the root of the Drive(s) you wish to exclude.

Hope this helps.

This only happens to some people, but as far as I know, no on has yet worked out why it happens on some machines but not others. I would imagine that it will eventually turn out to be a conflict with something else like a video driver or some security software.
On the machines that show this problem, it only occurs when "Preview on Image" is selected in the dialogue box for the filter that has been accessed. The workaround is to turn off "Preview on Image", but this can be difficult because often the crash makes PSP disappear before anything can be changed. Fortunately, sometimes PSP hangs around, but displays an error message. When this happens, leave the error message open, uncheck "Preview on Image", then close PSPP X3, and only then close the message box.
Next time PSP won't crash when you use the filter, but you will need to enable the preview windows on the filter's dialogue box so you can see what is happening to the image.
And... you'll need to repeat that for every filter that causes the problem.

It would be worth reporting the problem to Corel using 'E-mail Corel' tab at http://support.corel.com/ (You will need to click on any of the links to a Knowledgebase article for the 'E-mail Corel' tab to appear). Maybe with enough information they can quickly track down the conflict that causes the problem. Also, lots of reports of problems seems to speed the appearance of a patch.

tried as suggested

Dan,

I did as you suggested. PSPX3 actually ran for a few minutes and then it started shutting down again.

Please advise

Joe, please note that Corel recommends 2 GB of RAM. http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... bview=tab5

On my system, much different than yours, I went through the tools and unchecked the Preview Window box on every one just to be safe.

more virtual ram

Post by bulajap »

Bob,

since I have 1.5 Gig physical ram, should I icnrease my virtual ram?
If so, to what size ( 1.5 or 2 times the physical ram)? Would this help the program to run better?

thanks

I have been asked by Simone, who works in Corel Support in the UK, to post the following:

Hi bulajap

Make sure that you have registered your serial number. Here is a direct link:

http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite? ... ey=generic

Then go to the support page, log in and phone the support number you can find there:

http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite? ... 4155346665

If you are directed to a support outside the UK or you don't live in the UK, then contact the support with your free number and ask them to write to Simone, based in Maidenhead, an email with your PIN number and the keyword "PSP X3 on XP Home". I will contact you via email.

Kind regards Simone
