Widescreen Question

Post by MPH711 »

Recently upgraded to VS Pro X3...and after 3 days my "Get More" tab has appeared and I have dowloaded the new stuff but haven't played with them yet.

Before I start any new projects...my question is concerning the video clips and slides (or templates) that are provided look like they are 4:3 instead of 16:9 widescreen. I'm reallly talking about the standard stuff that we always see in the previous VS versions and this one, not the new stuff that I haven't looked at. Are these widescreen?

Hi

All the sample video and images I have seen provided by VS are not widescreen.

Right click any clip in the library and select properties, this should show the frame size and aspect ratio where applicable.
Or
Make sure the project properties are set for 16:9, then add any video or image, if it fills the preview screen then its widescreen, if it has any borders its not widescreen.

And yes you would have thought that by now and with the use of HD that the library samples would reflect this aspect. 16:9

And your lucky, I am in the UK and use Pal, most of my samples are NTSC size.

That's what I was afraid of. I don't understand why they go thru all of this and don't have these in widescreen. Very strange!
