No Timecode in Preview Window

Post by michaeld121 »

After some help from this forum last weekend I worked out how to display the timecode in the preview window. That¡¦s still working fine for the first tape I¡¦ve loaded-up from my video camera. However for the 2nd tape (part of the same project) the timecode isn¡¦t displaying at all when I play a clip.

I¡¦ve looked back at the tape and the timecode is on the tape and displays when I playback the tape on my camera.

Any suggestions?

Try Settings then Preferences then at the bottom check "Display DV timecode on Preview window". It would be helpful if you read the "Please Read This before making a post" at the top of this Forum. I've guessed you are using VS x3 but can only guess
EDIT
I see you asked this self same question and had the same reply here:

Errr ... if you read my post again, you'll see that it's not the "self same question".

In case it's not clear the problem is that the timecode is displaying for one tape in the project (so the Preference box must be ticked) but not for the another in the same project, even though the box is ticked.

I'm using VS2

Does the 2nd clip have the same properties as the 1st? The timecode is displayed in clip mode, and for DV (avi). If it's some other format, the timecode will not be displayed.

Yes, they're both .avi files that were shot on the same video camera, one after the other.

I can drag a clip from the first tape onto the preview window and it plays with the timecode. If I then drag a clip from the 2nd tape across it doesn't.

hi

my dv-avi clips show the timecode when in 'clip playback'

the timecode will not be transferred to the completed dvd.
