editing out natural sound & adding black frame

Post by juliart08 »

I'm using Pro X-3 with Windows xp. 250 gig hard drive. 1 gig ram.

1.How do I mute the natural sound on my Video on the Timeline?

2. I want the last frame to fade to black. How do I get a Black insert? Do I have to make a video of a Black Sheet of paper and then edit it in? I hope there is some way to do it with the program.

Micheal,

To mute the audio of a video clip, with the clip highlighted, go to the edit tab, and press the icon looking like a speaker with an X over it. If you hover your mouse over the various things, a tool-tip will appear telling you what they are. If you can't see the Edit tab, you can just double-click on your video clip in the timeline.

To create a fade-to-black, just use the black color swatch provided with VS. In Pro X3, they are found in the Graphics Organizer/Library. (You haven't viewed anymore of Jan's videos on Vimeo. One of them shows all about VS Pro X3's interface ). Look down the vertical toolbar, located to the right of the preview screen. Just below the T (Text), is an icon that looks like a Flower. Hoover your mouse over it, and the tooltip will say Graphic. Click on it to open the Graphics Organizer. The default will be the Color swatches. Just drag and drop the black one to your timeline. Now go to the Transition Organizer (A/B), and in the FX category, there is one called Fade to black. Place it between your video clip and the black color swatch.
