no sound on dvd

Post by copperheadkid »

i'm still a newb
i have created an avi file in adobe premiere 6.5
i exported as an 8000 bit rate mpeg 2 file, with a corresponding .wav audio file
i then imported this video file into mf3.5, added my chapters, and then added the .wav file under the enhance video section, silenced the orig audio and used the secondary stream
in the preview mode, the audio and video plays perfectly

in the options, i modified the mpeg settings by changing the bitrate to match my 8000, and left the audio as lpcm
and i then checked the "treat mpeg audio as non compliant"
but when i burn the dvd, i have excellent video, but no audio whatsoever

i have tried it using mpeg, with the highest setting, 324kbps?? i think it was, and still no audio
is there another setting i need to check??
any help would be greatly appreciated

Why did you check the "treat MPG as non-compliant"? The help file says that when you select that, the audio is not rendered to LPCM during output. That sounds like no sound to me. Have you tried burning the DVD without checking that option? If not, try it and see if it works.

Hi,
Use or download VS9 trial version and merge the video and audio
tracks together.

MovieFactory 3 had a BUG and does exactly what is happening to you.
They did fix that in the latest update (supposedly).

Here is what the bug did.
If the original mpg2 file had any audio at all and you replaced the audio
with another audio track like your doing by muting the original etc
then everything worked.
But, if the original video had NO audio at all then adding an audio track
wouldn't work.
It was fixed in one of the updates.

Can't you simply load them back into adobe and export them as
an mpg2 file. Using Adobe the options to set that are in the output.
You have to change a setting to DVD or PS stream. Otherwise the
default setting is to make 2 elementary streams, 1 video and 1 audio.
Depending on how many plugins you have in adobe there are a few
to choose for creating a mpg file. Whichever you choose on the
"MultiPlexter" tab or Output section is where you choose to create
a PS (program stream) mpg2 file.

Hope this helps,

MD

have you tried your resulting DVD in a home player ratehr than just on the computer. DMF4 has burnt a few for me with no audio under Media Player, but OK on the home box.

Worth a shot.

I also am having trouble with no sound. I have the trial MF4, and I tried to burn a DVD with multiple DivX codec AVI files ... and the video is excellent, no sound. I loaded the temp files MF4 creates into PowerDVD, and there is no sound there either, so the sound is not being carried over. The preview in MF4 has the sound ... so I don't know what's going on. Anyone solve this problem?
