Post by Roberto »

Hello,

where can I find a clear documentation that describes how to work with the VS X3 Smartsound ?

Thanks

Here's a start:
Mood Mapping In VS Pro X3. Video tutorial on Vimeo. Is there something specific that is stumping you?

Using the Auto Music is pretty straight forward. Select the Auto Music tab. Then in the drop-down menus, select the music you want to use, set the duration, or select Auto-trim to have it trimmed to the duration of your project. You choose different variations of your music. The number of variations depends on the duration. Shorter duration = fewer variations. Then as the video depicts, with the Quicktracks 5, you can customize that even further, by changing the mood.

Is YouTube blocked also? I've been hearing on the news about the big thing with Google. They're trying to make it impossible for you to use the internet. So sad..:(

Yes... YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, etc. etc.
However, some VPN software allows to bypass the Great FireWall... so, not really a big problem.

Anyway, I am now trying to install the Smartsound on the other "old and slow" computer, where I also installed VS X3.
So far, it is still dowloading... I will check if the Core Foundations is fully installed or partially, like it happened in the other "new and fast" computer.
In case I can see that the installation is ok here but wrong in the other computer, how to do ? How to reinstall these smartsound ?

Have you tried doing a Repair install for SS Quicktracks 5? It is located in your Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs. There should be a change option. This will then provide you an installation dialog, that has Repair, Modify, Remove. First try the Repair, if that doesn't correct it, then the Modify option.

I know the times I've reinstalled VSX3, I forgot to remove SS QT 5, and VS threw an error, saying that I needed to modify it in the Control panel.

The installation on the slow PC was succesfull so it is confirmed that something went wrong on the fast PC.
The change/repair/modify procedure did not alter the situation.
I deleted the album partially installed from the SmartSoud Quicktracks 5 window, hoping that I would have got the option to install it again... but unfortunately now I do not have any new package ready for donwload :-(
So, my question is: how to recover this package? How to be able to donwload and install it again ?

Firstly see this link where I have described how to extract the files from the single large installation file:

Install and Activate VSX3.

You will then find the Smartsound Installer here:

OK, I am extracting the VS X3 setup again.... it takes a while

Btw, because in the slow PC all the smartsound albums are correctly nistalled, can I just copy-paste the whole smartsound directory to the fast pc, replacing the old directory, and then apply "rebuild library" ?

Just one more question...
On smartsound.com website, in the software update page, is written reported about teh Quicktracks plug-in update:

"Who needs this update?
SmartSound Quicktracks adds soundtracks to a number of video editing applications. This update is for owners of
VideoStudio 8-12 (X2)
MediaStudio Pro 8"

Anybody knows whether it is needed for VS X3 too ?

Problem solved! :-)
I copied the whole Smartsound directories from the old to the new PC and rebuild the library.
Everything is ok now.
Thanks for the support/suggestions!
