VSX3 Bonus content installation problem.

Post by Bazza1969 »

Hi Guys.

I tagged the question below onto another post, but thought it may be better on its own.

I've now actually downloaded all the bonus content in VSX3 but can't get it to install. After running the installation on each item I get a message saying

"The Installed version of the application could not be determined. The set up will now terminate".

I've installed, uninstalled and re-installed this product now numerous times (and ran the clean up tool afterwards). I've got the download version, and I'm wondering if this has had any effect?

Any thoughts ??

When you say "Bonus Content" are you referring to the "Get More" options? If so I only have the TYYB version of VSx3 and have downloaded and installed the titles and fonts offered withoiut a problem. If we are talking about the same extras then it does suggest an X3 installation problem. Have you done a clean un-install the re-install?

Hi john

Sorry, yes the content I mean is the "Get More" fonts, templates etc..

Also I ran the Cleanup tool that was suggested to me in a previous post after each uninstall. I have even downloaded VSX3 again to see if I had a corrupt download.

Every installation I have done I have not been able to see a tab for quicktracks (on the audio tab) or use DVD Factory.

I've updated Direct X to the Feb update.

Any ideas?

Still unsure if you have the try b4 ya buy or full version?

The full version I believe needs 3 days after install/registration to download MORE content?

Not sure the MORE version works with the trial?

What content did/did not install ?

I have installed all of the bonus/get more stuff.
Interestingly you get different templates in
Factory 2010 -v- VS Express.

My installation has the following:
VS Express
6-Fun
4-Simple
4-Slide show
6-Wedding

Factory 2010
8-Fun
6-Legacy

A bit of an update...

I have managed today to install the Fonts packs only (from the Get More Bonus content). I'm not really sure how this happend, but when I pressed "INSTALL NOW" I was directed through the usual screens but then a screen came up saying it was "Decompressing the font pack". I was then given the option to "Unintsall, Repair or Modify". I clicked on repair and the installation was completed.

However I've not been given this option for any of the other packs (Style, Title etc)

Also I am looking in the following folder

C:\Users\Diamond Lights\AppData\Local\Corel

and I've got 2 Corel Videostudio Pro X3 folders that seem to contain the same things e.g CDS folder, LANG Folder and Setup xml document.

One of the Corel Videostudio PROX3 folders was created on 5/2/10 20:43 and the other on 5/2/10 21:13.

Is this how it should be or is one a leftover from an uninstall?, and if so should one be deleted, and then again which one.

I'm just wondering if this is why the program says it can;t determone the "Installation Version"

I know there are a few questions here, and I apologise if I've not explained it very well, but I'm now clutching at straws.

BTW this is the full download version not the trial.

Those folders are normal, in fact on my computer there are 5 not 2.
I am sitting at an XP machine at the moment so the locations are slightly different but you get

ALL USERS
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Corel\VS Pro\Version13
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio\2010
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro\13.0

Specific User - in my case "Stephen"
C:\Documents and Settings\Stephen\Application Data\Corel\Digital Studio
C:\Documents and Settings\Stephen\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro\13.0

VSX3 contains
VideoStudio - for editing
VS Express(Digital Studio) for simple authoring
Factory 2010 - for more complex authoring.

O.K

I think I understand that.

I've tried to view my Application Data folder

C:\Users\Diamond Lights\Application Data but it says acces is denied.

Are the AppData and the Apllication Data folders the same?

What I can't understand is if I go to this address

C:\Users\Diamond Lights\AppData\Local\Corel

contained in that "Corel" folder are 2 folders that are exactly the same. Both of them say "Corel Videostudio Pro X3" and the contents are the same in each folder (just different installation times)

Why would you need two exactly the same folders

Sorry Ken, What I was trying to say is that "Diamond Lights" is my user name for that computer.

Also, one other question.

Does the "Clean Up Tool" remove all aspects of every installation of VSX3 or just the current installation.

The reason I ask is that I have installed and unistalled VSX3 about five times so far, but only after the 3rd uninstall did I use the Clean up tool.

Now after checking further and further into my computer, I think I have files and folders left over from previous installations, and this could be causing the conflicts and problems that I'm having at the moment.
