A General Question re DVD Life

because it also gives you the option at a later date to re-capture from the tape at full DV quality if you want to re-edit (rather than from a compressed DVD ) besides I would rather store one little tape from which I can make brand new DVDs (and VHS tapes) whenever I want
Just because you save (archive) to a DVD doesn't mean you have to do it in mpeg2 format. Why not use a program such as Nero and save your content as a data disk? You can even zip it up first and then save the zipped files as data to the DVD. Of course if the archive subject matter is large you may have to chop it up into bits and save it to more than one DVD.

That question seems to have stirred up a bit of discussion.

Thanks guys, I will continue to store back to DV tape and look after the tapes properly.
