I keep looking at this and wonder if I have gone wrong somewhere. In VS x3 when I go the Insert Digital media, go through the procedure until the Import from Digital Media windows opens. Then against "Working Folder" there appears the default folder where the actual clip is stored for use. This folder can be changed by clicking the folder symbol to the right.
Below that line is Import To: then greyed out it reads "Import files to Corel Video Studio Pro" This file is as defined in the Preferences as the Working Folder!
I think Corel have got these the wrong way round but before I email them could others please check and see if I have gone wrong somewhere. To assist here is a screen shot of the Import window.
