Potential conflict with VSx3 and VS12 ?
Hi, does anyone know if there could be any conflicts caused by running VSX3 and VS12 on the same computer?
I have used VS11 and VS12 without any problems (on the same machine), but I am having major problems getting VSX3 to work.
I have just bought a new desktop computer that I am going to use just for editing (no internet connection, virus software etc). I have loaded VS12 in fine, but I don't want to go through the issues that I've had on my laptop with VSX3 if it is due to a conflict.
Some of the issues I'm having are.
1. DVD Pro Studio crashes as soon as I open it (everytime)
2. There is no tab to acces Smartsound quicktracks
3. The extra content from "Get More" tab won't install (I'll put this in a seperate post if that's O.K)
I've posted two questions to Customer Support on 5/2/010 and still no reply, and tried phoning Technical Support but had another birthday whilst I was on hold.
If anyone can help that would be great.
Many Thanks

Hi Ken,
Thanks for the advise. I'll try to install VSX3 on my new desktop and see what happens.
Regarding the extra content. I've now actually downloaded all the content but can't get it to install. After running the installation on each item I get a message saying
"The Installed version of the application could not be determined. The set up will now terminate".
I've installed, uninstalled and re-installed this product now numerous times (and ran the clean up tool afterwards). I've got the download version, and I'm wondering if this has had any effect?
Also, does anyone know where the extra content is downloaded to, then I can copy this to another file (in case I have to un-install again)
many thanks.

That's true John. In my case I have XP.

I think this is the folder where they go after installation. I would guess that when you download they are put in a temp folder which is deleted on install. Where that temp folder is I know not. It may well be deleted if you don't or can't complete the install.Black Lab wrote:Looks like mine went to C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Pro X3\Content

Now done a bit of delving. One of the GetMore extras is downloaded as GetMore_Title_03.exe. On doing a search I found the exe in:
C:\ProgramData\Corel\Downloads\540228697_910035
Open that folder and you will see folders for each download , these in turn contain the exe files.
This is for Windows 7 but you need to check the show Hidden folders and Files option in Folder Options. This might well be the correct location for Vista but I don't have Vista installed anywhere, I have managed to successfully avoid it!
I have just installed VSx3 on my XP machine so must wait for the GetMore to work. Will check the location when it is showing unless someone else has time to do a search. If you have XP and have downloaded the GetMore Titles search for GetMore_Title_03.exe. This will show the location of the file.

But the extra content is not his problem. The problem is his install of VS is not being recognized.
I don't know how the whereabouts of the extra content is going to help.

I was just trying to answer that query, that's all!

Just a quick update.
The problems I'm having at the moment are both with the installation of VS AND the bonus content. I've found where the bonus files are downloaded to and I've also started a new post to deal with the Bonus content problem.
Thanks for you help on this gents, there are many more posts to come on VSX3 by the looks of it.

I'm glad you started a new post, as the two problems were obviously confusing (at least to me).
