Frame Sizes

Post by xlx_sloppyjoe_xlx »

Can I not make a video's frame size 1024 x 768? MS7 not recognize it? The reason I need it that high, is because when I play it on a projection screen, the video is very very pixelly. Any help will be appeciated, please comment quickly. I need to have this figured out by the end of tonight!

Hi,

If you are doing an NTSC project, the output will be 720x480.

You can just drop the file in the timeline if it is 4:3 ratio - and set that in your Preferences.

BTW, if the image is out of aspect, you can make a *Motion* path that simply centers the image on the frame.

DV and other such codecs have the available resolutions hard-wired into them; 720x480 for NTSC and 720x576 for PAL.

Extra large video fames can be created using codecs like MJPeg, which can be had rather cheaply from PicVideo or Morgan Multimedia. Morgan is <$20.

Getting them to the projector is another thing. IF the display card has a TV out that supports video overlay then playing the MJPeg file in MediaPlayer should send it out.

Some display cards can also output a 16:9 aspect ratio for widescreen productions. Matrox P-750 and Parhelia are especially good for this as they support letterboxing.
