Did you by any chance buy the upgrade version? That asks for the serial number of an earlier version first, then the serial number for X3...

I tried to install the trial version of VSX3 which was downloaded directly from Corel site, the first screen came up which I guess is "license agreement". But the screen which showed the agreement wordings are all in black and I could not click "Accept". I could not proceed further and have to click "Cancel". See my attachment of the screen capture.

Many thanks for your advice !

If you have previously installed the program and you are installing it again for some reason - perhaps you have reformatted your hard drive and re-installed Microsoft Windows. You will by now have an ACTIVATION KEY
An ACTIVATION KEY is in this format 3ABC-4ABC-5ABC-6ABC you enter an ACTIVATION KEY into the box at the bottom right of the screen.

When you enter a SERIAL NUMBER you will see the following screen:
Image

When you save the text file it will contain your new Activation Key.
Hi, I had some serious problems with an unstable pc and reinstalled windows 3 times in one day as well as VS X3 (bought August 2010). The third installation was stable. However, the second time I used VS X3 (the same day), the product was no longer activated and the message was that the serial key reach the maximum numbers which it can be used for activation. Now, before I call Corel next week, I just wanna know why it happened? I didn't get an ACTIVATION KEY :x ! I didn't even expect that such a thing could happen. Anybody knows?

In order to combat piracy, they place a 3x activation max on the product. Don't worry though, all it takes is a phone call and they will reset this. I've had to do it a time or two.

I tried to install the boxed version of VSX3 which I received directly from Corel today. The first screen came up which I guess is "license agreement". But the screen which showed the agreement wordings is all in black and I could not click "Accept". I clicked all around where the "accept" box should be, but nothing took. I looked at the install log and saw no errors. It got to the part where it said "verbose logging stopped". Then it showed "Load dialog: E:\lang\EN\customer.htm", which is the black screen with nothing in the middle. And it just waits for a response to a question I can't see and that is apparently not loading.

Then I downloaded the TBYB version and the same thing happened.

I see someone had this same problem here on Dec 27th and he has had no reply yet with any suggestions.

You could try updating your DirectX (see "Sticky" near the top of the forum). That helps a lot of previewing issues that VS sometimes has, although I have never heard it affecting install. But its worth a shot.

Ken,

I have VideoStudeo ProX3 installed and working on my Desktop. I would also like to install a copy of my program on my laptop. How do I go about doing this?

Thanks,

Alan

The EULA allows you to install on two computers as long as it is run on only one at any one time!  Just use the same SN, but don't try to register the second version.

I was able to install VSX3 after calling tech support. Basically I had to sign on as a different user. After searching for a better solution i found that the user agreement and accept box did not appear because some weird security setting wouldn't allow ActiveX to run in my local machine zone. (these security zones are set up in Internet Exlporer). Researching that, I fould this so;ution:

Using Regedit.exe, you should delete 1 extra (parasite) zone from

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\

It has a pseudo-graphic number (looks like an “L”), you'll see it before zone number 0.
It seems this is a bug of Adobe flash player update, though I am not sure.
This extra zone prevents ActiveX controls from running on your local machine. Thus some content can’t display. This extra zone prevents desktop gadgets from being shown correctly.
If you want you can “Export” this key before you delete it, so you could restore it if needed.

This solution also solved a bunch of other problems for me: an error when trying to display Extended Services in Computer Management; help not opening in several programs, etc.

I have had the same problem, and have logged in as administrator, use the "run as administrator" option, and I've looked into the regedit file as suggested above--only I don't see any other names other than the 0, 1, 2, 3 & 4 (nothing that looks like an "L"). Help.

I'm trying to install Video Studio proX4 on a computer that has plenty of speed, ram, and is running on Windows 7, 64 bit. I've altered setting in IE8 to allow activeX controls to run. I do have Google chrome, so I made IE my default browser, hoping that would help (apparently Google chrome does not run activeX controls?) I've disabled the firewall and the virus program when trying to install VSProX4.
