Install and Activate VSX3

Post by sjj1805 »

Please note that there are TWO versions of Corel programs available.

1. ESD - Electronic Software Download.
This is a version that you purchase either a full version or as an upgrade to a previous version. With this you are given a SERIAL NUMBER.
You do not also get an activation number. If you want to re-install it at a later date you enter that same SERIAL NUMBER.

2. TBYB - Try Before You Buy.
With this one you can use the software for up to 30 days without having purchased it. If you decide to keep it then the trial version has to be ACTIVATED. The following steps will guide you through this process.

Firstly download the Try Before You Buy from this link.

It will ask you where you want to save the files and then you will see:
Image

When you see this screen,
Image
the program has paused awaiting user input. If like me you like to extract your set up files into their component parts, rather than using the single rather large setup file, you can now create a new directory on your hard drive, then copy/paste all of the (temporarily) extracted files to your new directory.
If you do not do so now you will not get another chance because at the end of the installation, the temporary directory gets deleted.

If you want to install VideoStudio from these setup files, the one you have to click is highlighted here:
Image

During the installation process you will be asked to complete this screen.
Image

You will get a thank you message to acknowledge that you have successfully completed the above.
Image

After using the program you will be reminded of how many days are left of your free trial and you will be invited to purchase the product. If you choose to do so you will receive a Serial number from Corel after completing your purchase.
Image

If you have a serial number or an activation number (explained below) then you should click the button at the bottom left of that screen.

If this is the first time you have ever installed the program then you will have a SERIAL NUMBER.
The SERIAL NUMBER is in this format VS13ABC-ABCDEFG-ABCDEFG-ABCDEFG
It is entered into the box at the top of the screen. You then activate it by clicking the [CONNECT] button.
If you do not have an internet connection then you should click the [Phone Corel] button where a member of Customer Services will guide you through the next stages.
Image

If you have previously installed the program and you are installing it again for some reason - perhaps you have reformatted your hard drive and re-installed Microsoft Windows. You will by now have an ACTIVATION KEY
An ACTIVATION KEY is in this format 3ABC-4ABC-5ABC-6ABC you enter an ACTIVATION KEY into the box at the bottom right of the screen.

When you enter a SERIAL NUMBER you will see the following screen:
Image

When you save the text file it will contain your new Activation Key.

Delayed write failure

Post by centurion3 »

Steve,

I'm having trouble installing my (boxed) VS X3. I have a RAID array. I assume the delayed write failure has something to do with RAID. I see that there are work arounds but all seem laborious and complicated. To your knowledge is there a simpler fix ?

I have heard that some people have had success installing & running VSX3 under a virtual machine. I'm not sure if that was the kind of answer you were looking for though.

I am having a problem installing VSX3,first time install of Corel. When I come to the install window where you put the serial number it accepts the number starts Initiating the install configuring direct X, then gets an error -9. It says your system is not properly modified. I have Direct X 9 on my system, so I am not sure what to do. I bought Corel Photo Essentials 4 in a bundle with VSX3 and it intalled fine. Any thoughts as to what I do next?

Welcome to the forums,

I'm not sure what your screenshot has to do with your question, but if so, you need to check the box beside I accept the terms..... Then the Next button will become active.

Actually I did and entered the serial number and then the error occured. I think now it is a corrupted file. I tried to download the trial version and the integrity test fails when the download finishes. I am about to try downloading again for the third time. This is getting really annoying. :evil

Still can't get VSX3 or PSPP X3 to install on my system, here is a picture of what happens when the insallation stops.
Has anyone had this type of problem with these softeware application suites?
Thanks Bart

Is there an easy way to figure out what files are used by an X2 project? I don't want to keep X2 and X3 on the box, so I want to uninstall X2, but I want to make sure I keep a copy of all the images and sound files that I used in my X2 projects so they are available when I convert the X2 project to X3. Any recommendations on how to do this?

Thanks,
Rich

I download VSX3 Trial (file name: VSX3_Pro_TBYB (2).exe) from www.corel.com, a huge file of 1.2GB. After download I got the following error when trying to install: " >SetupNew\setup.cpp (140) PAPP:...
PVENDOR:...PGUID:...$@Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (600) IE Version: 8.0.7600.16385." Now what does this mean? My PC is running Windows 2007 Professional. A look at the download folder gives the file size as 860MB. I used Firefox 3.6.8 to download and the said Corel Download Manager never showed up. Now what now? I am scared to start a new Trial and end up with a corrupted file again and the download consumed a lot of my internet capacity allready. Any help is wellcome.

Hello all I hope that I am at the right thread , but I am not 100% sure .

I have VSX3 boxed , and all that I care for , are to be able to register and update the software, for total off-line use .

With the help ( instructions ) of the Corel team , and the tips about getting all the current service packs, and add-on files,
I think that I am in a good track.

But , what if I can not get on-line , and I have this nag screen about " Register to COREL " ..
That it does not look to have an option ... " Do not bother me " , but only days , until next launch ?

Is there any tips to totally deactivate this ?

Thanks.

There's no option to disable it. You must activate it within 30 days. You can activate online or by telephoning Corel.

I posted this as a new topic, but probably should have asked here instead.
I upgraded to VSX3 shortly after I bought a new 64 bit Dell desktop system. When I download and install, the new X3 files are in the 32-bit operating system Program Files directory. The program works fine, but I want the advantage of 64 bit speed, which I understand VSX3 supports. Can I download again and somehow get the 64 bit system install files?
Thanks,
