Manual Uninstall ProX3

Post by Bazza1969 »

Hi. this is my first post, so please bear with me.

I purchased ProX3 a few days ago and after numerous problems (e.g No icon to use smartsounds in the audio section, the "Get More" tab to download the bonus footage was not on the help screen, and DVD Factory Pro crashes and stopped working everytime I try to use it) I uninstalled and re-installed a few times to see if it was something that I had done, but during one of the unistalls my laptop crashed. The files now seem to be corrupted and I am getting a message "Setup.xml could not be loaded. This may indicate the file is corrupted" in Add/Remove programs. Could anyone tell me the steps to manually unistall all traces of this and then I can try and start again. Sorry this is a little long-future posts will be shorter.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the website comments much appreciated. Still having problems getting VSX3 to work but I'll put these in fresh posts.

Once again thanks for all your help. I must admit just looking at other posts on the forum, this looks like one of the few forums I've visited that is worth visiting. A good place to share information.

Regarding the (silly IMHO) Get More feature, as has been said in at least two other threads, Corel advises that it takes three days after the most recent installation of X3 for the Get More button to show up. And I can attest to that from personal experience (and a couple of reinstallations!!)

Hello Ken. I do not have the "Get More feature" available yet due to reinstalling. I'll have to wait a few days.

What's silly about it in your opninion?

Kind regards,
Jean-Pierre

Why impose the three day wait? Why even have the feature -- why not a download page somewhere, or a separate link for extra content as in previous versions? But it's really the three day wait that I find the silliest...

I agree. I'm curious about why they choose for it.

Since first starting to test this version, I've been trying to come up with a rationale for this 3-day wait. Possibilities are:
  • Don't want TBYB versions downloaded just to get the templates. What would someone do with them? Don't allow the Get More in TBYB, just provide a few samples like previous TBYB.
  • 30-day Money Back Guarantee, people getting Templates then demanding money back. So what... again what would they do with them? Is there a black-market for DVD Templates? Maybe sell them to the competitors.
  • It'll take them at least 3-days to figure out how to get through DVD Factory 2010, so no need to rush more content on them. Now this could be a possibility. Have to try and think like Corel.
Silly? Absolutely!!

Pehaps they want to spread de pressure on their servers. Avoiding everyone to start downloading all at once.

I expect some little nerd, 20 minutes out of college thought it was a good idea at the time

Best of all, when you do actually get the get more working, it installs "something" but what? most of the time I cannot find anything new.

Corel are aware - I emailed my contact about this and received a reply that they are checking into it.
