X3 Pro doesn't display DIVX codec in templates
Can someone help, or verify something for me, if you have X3 PRO and Windows 7? I have had X2 PRO working for a long time, using Divx 6.8 which I paid for, but now that I've upgraded to X3 PRO, there is no DIVX option there! If I view X2 and X3 side by side, X3 removed the option to make a DIVX avi file. What gives? What is the new trick, for X3 which will allow you to make DIVX FILES, which it advertised it could do..???

It seems that Corel has dropped support for outputting DivX. While you can import DivX files, it will no longer produce a DivX file.

Ah man.. that's just WRONG- and stupid I might add. I read it supported Divx, I didn't know that only meant you can import a Divx file. That's trash! PowerDirector still has this feature, in with Windows 7. I'm disappointed. I'm getting my money back!

In another thread just yesterday, I was also discussing this. I have installed XVid separately on my computer, but am also the owner of DivX 7 Pro (and many of its predecessors). When you want to output to XVid in X3 (or X2 or earlier) you choose Share > Create Video File > Custom. Then you choose AVI as the output format. In the Options button, you go to Compression and I find the XVid codec at the bottom of the drop-down list, which you can then configure.
Though I have DivX 7 on the computer (which uses either the 6.8.5 or now the 6.9.1 codec), as you have found, it does not show up in X3 (though I could not get either to show up in X2 either...). X2 and its predecessors came with DivX 5.1.1 built in, and that always showed. So just as a test, I dropped in an old version of that codec, and it showed in X3! However, when I tried another version in the 6 series, that wiped 5.1.1 but would not show in X3.
So I guess that unless you are prepared to use XVid or the older DivX codec, that feature *has* indeed gone. Regrettable in these days of high definition -- and excellent -- DivX output in other programs.
