¡§ULead VideoStudio¡¨ = Every file type I have so far wished to input/convert/edit/burn = No Issue!
But then came...
Corel vs = Through this forum I learn that even retail versions...
To be honest I cannot be bothered to even explain the ¡§BASIC¡¨ software/user requirements expected from COREL.
Ooh can I please download free content and updates while you monitor my ANGER!!! (online)
Why would you even consider to totally screw-up ULEAD`s business model or reputation ?
Step in the shoes of / or Stand on the shoulders of ?
Corel & Toyota = Bad

Apologies as it was indeed a vent
I (blindly) recommended ¡§COREL¡¨ to a friend
Sorted as in, the (retail box) shall now be hopefully returned and refunded.
No Problem, could I ask why you have the ¡§COREL¡¨ logo (association) on the forum if you are not ¡§Corel¡¨?
Corel may well indeed stroke your input for now but be aware of possible lawsuits = Now there`s an idea
World, Toyota, Corel, British Government, democracy = Let downs or worse

The forum is provided by Corel, however is staffed by volunteers, that are and have been users of the former Ulead brand, and now Corel. I pointed out that this forum, which is titled, VideoStudio, is set aside for those needing help with VideoStudio problems. We have a General Discussions section of the web board, where posts like yours are ok.
If there is a problem you're having, or your friend, please post them and we will do what we can to get it resolved. What version are you talking about? There is one major problem with the current release VS Pro X3, and that is being addressed by Corel. It should be only a few weeks before we have access to it.

At the risk of getting eaten alive I am going to say something positive about Corel.
Firstly, as you have said, when Ulead had the reigns there was a powerful suite of programs all of which were user friendly. The along came INTERVIDEO.
INTERVIDEO messed with the capture plug in and replaced it with their own.
Before long the Company changed hands again and Corel took the reigns.
OK Corel have got rid of every piece of Ulead Software except VideoStudio.
They have their own reasons - and yes they mystify all of us here, myself included.
But lets look at this last remaining program VideoStudio.
We are aware that they have messed up the DVD Authoring stage in the latest version X3. Corel are aware of our feelings about that and are working on a solution. So let us put that part of VideoStudio to one side for the time being. We can review it when they release "The Solution" whatever that might be.
Let us now look at the editing side of things.
I would argue that Corel have put a lot of work and have made lots of improvements to the editing side of things in the new version. There seems to be more new stuff in this release than there have been in previous new versions.
OK get your knife and fork out, steady with the salt and pepper!
