"select all" possible in Videostudio 11?

Post by Jaydee »

I download my mts files to the Videostudio 11 plus folder on harddisk from the 8 GB SD card which I take out of my camcorder and insert in my laptop. For this I use the icon Import from mobile device. After, all my movie scene thumbnails appear on my Videostudio window. In order to download each mts file to the Videostudio folder I have to click and highlight them all one by one while keeping the Ctrl button pushed in.
Question 1: is there a way to do this clicking on all files like "select all" instead of having to click on each file in this download from SD to PC stage?

Next all the mts thumbnails can either be pulled down in the timeline or one can use the Insert Mediafile to timeline under the Files tab and Insert Video... which is faster and I therefore prefer.
I then have again to click on each of the scene mts files present in the Videostudio folder while pressing Ctrl. After all the files appear in the timeline.
Question 2: is there a way to avoid this clicking on each of all files like "select all" in the insert to the timeline stage?

Question 3: is there a way to do delete the "select all" way all the scene thumbnails on the screen after they are no longer needed, instead of selecting them all while pressing the Ctrl button in order to get rid of them?

Hi John

Try using Shift + Click on the first and last thumbnail/file to select adjacent clips.

You can import clips direct to the timelines, right click timeline and select Insert Video
Browse the hard drive and select the files, again use Shift + Click

My question of February 2010 is since long solved and your advice then was helpful. I simply now get the .mts files directly in the VideoStudio 11plus timeline and next render as HDV 1080i. Works fine.

Q1. I found out the login interface pages have somewhat evolved since then but (after consulting the FAQ) I did not find how to post a subject any more.

That is why I send it using this old posting.

My new question is:

Q2. I found out to play my uncaptured video files from the SD card directly on my TV screen using a HDMI-HDMI cable to connect my Panasonc HDC-SD5 camcorder to my TV. Next, I found out, to my surprise, that the
image quality on my TV was better directly from my camcorder than the quality obtained from my laptop after capturing, editing and saving the SD card videofiles using VideoStudio 11plus. To play the video from my laptop on my TV screen, I apply the Windows Vista double screen option.
I use an RGB-RGB cable to connect the laptop video image to my TV and a stereo jack to send the audio from my laptop to my TV speakers. I have no HDMI output hardware option on my laptop, only 14 pin RGB.

(I now save my uncaptured SD video files on my computer harddisk, just in case I learn more later to re-do it).

What I meant with less video image quality using my laptop is that when one can observe very tiny spots move about over the entire screen in a vapor like manner. Such is not really awful or snow-like but the difference is visible by comparison with the camcorder connection image.

Is this due to slowness of my laptop (Sony Vaio VGN-TZ), VideoStudio image processing, VideoStudio setup parameters or the RGB connector cable?

Thank you,

John Dom

I would suggest that it is due to the RGB connection, which will produce a lesser quality than HDMI.

In the meantime, I played the said videofile from my other (desktop) computer harddisk which has a big screen connected with 18 pin (2*9+1) DVI cable: it shows the same pixel aberations.

So I fear the processing with VideoStudio 11 plus causes the effect, not the RGB cable. Any way I can check and/ot correct that?

Wobbling pixels

Post by Jaydee »

I rephrase my previous problem after finding new facts.

As mentioned before, after VideoStudio 11-plus rendering (fragments stitching) of the .mts files on my camcorder SD to an HDV 50*1080i (per PC) video on my harddisk, a lot of the image pixels wobble on the screen if one looks carefully. This wobbling or pixel spray can be seen on either my large desktop monitor screen or on my LCD TV.

It is not a cable problem because when I play the fragments directly from the SD on the screens, this pixel wobbling is not present.

I also tried to make a video of the same fragments using a trial version of AVSVideoEditor and the result was as far as I could make out identical with the fragments on the SD: no wobbling.

Please advise because it is now clear something goes wrong during VideoStudio rendering or editing.

Jaydee -- please note that I have merged your latest post above with your existing thread on the same topic. It is not helpful that you started a separate thread on it which then necessitated a search for the existing thread so that we could recall what your central problem is. In future, if posting on the same subject, I'd be grateful if you could keep this in mind.

Video Studio 11 is quite old, the latest version X4 will probably be better at handling your HD video files.
I suggest you download the trial version, this will give you 30 days free editing to compare the editing and rendering qualities.
