I've searched, but can't seem to find a list of compatible capture cards. I have a new Asus My Cinema PE9400 Combo card, but VSX3 will not work with it. The stated requirements say a BDA card should work, which I'm quite sure this is... but no luck.
Naturally I can use the software that came with it... but it would sure be nice to be able to do everything within VideoStudio.
List of capture cards that work with VSX3 and Windows 7?

There never has been such a list, I am afraid. And worse from your point of view at least, we usually recommend you use the software which comes with the device for capture, and then open the captured video in VS -- whatever version it is -- for editing. This is because that sofware is usually specially tweaked to work with the device, where VS is not. More to the point, there are many harware manufacturers out there who refuse to share the proprietary secrets involved in their device and bundled software with other software manfacturers like Corel. Thus, there are many devices which will simply not work with VS, or are actively blocked by their manufacturer from working with other software like Corel's...
More to the point, as you become more experienced with video editing, you will realise the need to use third party software in many parts of the editing process. I for instance often use CanopusFX or Adorage transitions; BluffTitler or Xara 3D for my titles; Audacity or Nero WaveEdit for my audio; Sonic Fire Pro for my tailored background music; and Movie Factory 7 or even Nero for my actual authoring/burning of discs... There's nothing wrong with using multiple programs in any one project, and in fact many positive reasons why you should...

It's not that I don't use VS's capture function because it doesn't work for me. It does. It's just that I prefer the features of other programs e.g. WinDV for standard definition DV; and HDVSplite for my HDV because as its name implies, it splits the HDV during capture, whereas VS can only do it after capture.
