Selections

Post by victorianartist »

Painter 11 has this great feature in which when using the Freehand selection tool you can do so without holding down the shift/ctrl key. It is wonderful in that you can easily move around your image without losing what you selected. There is a + and - icon in the presets bar and you select one and edit your selection with comfort and ease. I would really love to see this in the next edition of this program.

As my preferences come to mind I will post. This one is really great to me.

Oh, the brushes are somewhat limited in their functionality. I have to go to Art Rage, Painter, Open Canvas and use their painting tools and then come back to psp to finish up. It would be nice to see them expanded. I thought they were with the new brush settings, but those tweaks are merely the same tweaks found in the bar. Presumably I could tweak them and make a new brush preset, but you could before. So, having just started psp13, I may find that feature is more useful than at first glance.

OOOPs... this was meant to be in the wish list for future versions!

I use PSP every single day along with Painter11.

Could you explain that selection thing again. What can you do without holding ctrl/shift in Painter that you can't in PSP? Are you talking about adding to, removing from, and replacing the current selection?

That's also possible in PSP without holding ctrl/shift. You just select it in the tool properties. You'll notice the drop down box that says Replace. Just select Add/Subtract in there to change the mode.

WooHoo! It was always there. I normally use replace and have to use shift or control. Don't know why I never tried using the + or -. Duh!
