X3 how to record project to a dvd

Post by leszektrojanowski »

Hi there,

I've been using X2 for a long time now and decided to upgrade it to X3. I'm very happy the way it works, etc. But there is a small problem I have experienced this morning. I saved my project and decided to record it to my DVD disk, I pressed DVD disk and all I could see was some fancy menu settings for DVD. What to do next? (I don't want to have any fancy menus -I just want the project to save into a DVD disk).

Thanks [/quote]

Unfortunately, things are not so simple anymore with X3, particularly in the authoting module. Please see -- and continue to consult as it grows -- this thread, which touches on the points your raise: Authoring - VSX3

See also the top sticky post on this Forum which touches on similar points.

Hi Ken

Started X3
Share Create Disc
Clicked the lower right button--Add Video and Images--takes me to this screen
I've tried dragging items, but seem as though they need to be in the media library.

Hi Trevor
When I open X3 then Share Create Disk I get this:

Then when I click Go to manu eiting at bottom right, I get:
Image
If I dont open a project I get the same as the screenshot above but the bottom right button now reads "Select photos and videos". When I click on that I get:

If I then highlight one of the folders showing the thumbnails and click the "Customised" button that opens up the folder to show the individual clips within and you can then drag whatever clips you need to "Media Tray".

Hi

Ok I think I have it

After Share Create Disc the Corel DVD Factory opens in a select a menu type window.

Then if you select the option Select Photos and Videos, which is the obvious choice, you are taken to an empty media library as my image in the above post.
From here you cannot do anything other than to close the program

Instead of selecting Select Photos and Videos you must select Cancel

This will take you back to the media library allowing you to add your files to the library. Very strange¡K.
Using the Import option at the top will allow you to browse the PC to import your video files

Now select the Create button I selected Video Disc
This took me back to the menu page allowing me to select a menu template.
Now its time to select Photos and Videos taking you to the media library that now has some content.
From here a simple drag and drop will do the trick.

For me the problem arose when first used as the library has no content.

Now the second time there is no problems¡K¡K..

Advanced menu settings being hidden under the pop out to the right of the panel

Whoever wrote this part of the software has clearly never used a video authoring program before. Where's the logic for goodness sake :x

I think that the idea they had was (to some degree) good, it's just that they haven't got it working right and it needs more work doing on it.
Corel ARE aware and they ARE working on some possible cures.
We will just have to wait and see what they come up with.

Always try to put all the media you're going to use in a project into the Media Tray at the bottom BEFORE creating the movie. Yes, you can always return to get more content, via the button in the top left, but it's much easier the other way.

Also if you want a DVD without and bells and whistles, chose the "Simple tab in the window where the templates are. The filmstrip with npthing on it will add nothing to your project.

In DVD Factory Pro 2010, there is no Simple option, only Fun and Legacy, of which both provide a menu. In the Instant Project for the Advanced Edit, the Simple option is available. However again, when you go to burn a DVD using DVD FP 2010, you'll have the menu choices..
