FWIW Corel should not reinvent the wheel. They have a great authoring product in Workshop. It just needs a few updates for things like 16:9, HD, and win7. Adding bits to VS or MF for authoring really doesnt cut it IMHO.

Perhaps we are getting nearer to a solution as the link to the Help files given in Steves first post in this thread now returns "This page no longer exists"
I await with baited breath

vsx DISAPPOINTMENT

Post by Luna Esterhuizen »

When I previously saw a new version of VS I could not wait to download the trial and try it out. Within a few minutes I decided on buying it. This was the same when I started to use the new VSx3. There are so many new features that I instantly liked and the most wonderful feature is the "replace clip".

But o dear! As soon as I chose Share and the Create Disc option the nightmare began. Until now I could not figure out how to insert "VSPs" into the DVD that I want to create. In fact I came no where, DVD Factory 2010 is just a mess. I also found that VSX3 is very very slow while some of the reviews said it works faster than previous versions.

I will never buy the new version. :x

The question whether Corel will come up with something useable is still opened. After loooong pondering they have brought up two major misfeatures (authoring and content delivery). I wonder what can be done in much shorter time (4 weeks or so have passed so far).

So, for anyone who is going to author in X3 I'd advise to wait.

Where to download older Video Studio

Post by vznx1w »

A recent hard drive failure caused me to upgrade to Windows 7. At the same time, I bought the upgrade to Video Studio Pro X3. However, the authoring issues make it worthless to me.

I want to go back to Video Studio Pro X2, or even better to Video Studio 11 Plus. I still have the keys for all three versions, but can not find where to download anything but the hated X3.

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the older software?

Thanks,

Steve

Sorry, but if you had the download versions of those older programs, the assumption would normally be that you transferred them to DVD/CD after downloading or else stored them on a hard drive which was not your system drive, such as an external hard drive or USB stick drive...

I liked the DVD authoring in VS X2-hope my experience with authoring with X3 will be different to other members.
