Blu-Ray disk creation: Buffer Underrun Protection is missing

Post by PatBarr »

I've just recently started producing Blu-Ray disks. Some of them burn just fine and others stop when they're almost done burning with an error message, which I can't remember now, having to do with a buffer underrun error.

When burning DVD's you can use the options button and select "Buffer Underrun Protection" but this isn't available when creating a Blu-Ray disk.

Any workarounds? Also how do I report a problem or bug to Corel?
Thanks, Pat

I don't have a Blu-Ray burner so can't help from first hand experience. However, with standard def DVDs, the buffer underrun problem was, IIRV, also connected to using too high a burning speed. If you can, maybe you can ratchet back the burn speed a little from the speed you normally use...

Like Ken I do not have a Blue Ray burner.
Having said that, physically or should I say mechanically, it is a "disc" burner albeit a Blue Ray one. Therefore you might find something useful in this post.

Slow burn speeds

Post by PatBarr »

I did try to burn at 2x instead of 4x. I had the same error message. I'm kind of hoping x3 might fix the problem (and probably introduce many others!).

You link to general dvd burning was very good. I've always burned by DVD's at the max speed but I think I'll try slower ones now.
Thanks, Pat

Have you checked to see if there is any updated firmware for your burner?

firmware is software that is inside the actual device (the burner) rather like the BIOS of a computer.

Hi there, i'm having the same issue about 70% of the time when i try to burn a blu ray disc in MF7 SE. Not only is the buffer underun protection greyed out, but when you click on "more burn settings" (or something like that), the burn speed is locked in at "maximum". it's greyed out and does not let me change it. Does anyone know how i can make it burn slower?
