Difference between VS X3 upgrade and full version

Post by Roberto »

Hello,

I just wonder if there is any difference (in terms of final SW, plug-ins, and resources) to install the VS X3 upgrade on top of VS X2 or a full X3 new installation.
For example, the VS X2 includes some NewBlueFx that are not included in VS X3.
Will they be preserved once applied the X3 upgrade ?

Thanks for your advices

X3 does not install over the top of X2. It is a completely separate installation. X2 will remain as is. Some of us keep a number of previoius versions on our computer so as to be able to help out here.

Thank you Ken.

From your answer, it looks like the X3 upgrade will create a new standalone version, which I think is a better solution, as the X2 and X3 versions are somehow not "compatible" (as the X3 removes some features of X2). I haven't checked the DVD authoring tool yet in the X3 trial version, but form what I read in this forum it looks much worst than teh X2 one, so, things seem to go towards X2 for video "pre-editing" if NewBlu Movie FX are needed, X3 for more sophisticated video editing, X2 again for DVD authoring :-)
I wonder if Marketing people in Corel have ever thought about all of this and just poke at other competitor SW... ;-))
