Not much help now, but it's typically best to use save as to save a backup copy periodically (I personally use a "pong" system. Where I save to fileA and then the next save I do to fileB, then back to A, then B.. and so on. This way, if one gets corrupted the other one is just a couple steps behind)

Yes I do the same, since so many creashes in the beginning. I save the UFO in one Folder and then as a *.PSD or *.BMP in another Folder as a backup.

Granted I lose features the UFO file contained, but at least I have something to work with when things go wrong. Also Backup to DVD.

PS: Are you sure the file didn't save in a different location than you expected? Did you do a File Search for *.ufo on your drive to see if it still survives in another Folder? Or are you saying the File was trashed and you can't open it, cause if you can't neither can we.

file stk.ufo is unique on my hdd. :( overwrited. and no in any other folders.
file was trashed or corrupted i dont know how ulead team call it. :)
im viewing it with simple text editor. i see photoimapct header data, some phonoimpact preview data, and some more data. but what is data. real file's data or some garbage in file. i dont know.
i placed it to web
try to open it on your PI. :) may be this would help. i tried to open it on PI6 on PI7 with no any good results. :(
its here http://omgups.***/stk.zip - 629K. ufo file 2,08M in archive.

Hi,

I can't open it either.

Sorry.

If Mike can't open the file then that would suggest the Header for the file is damaged.

PhotoImpact will only open what you give it and not try to repair damaged Headers.

I have several files that the Image Data was damaged but the Header remained intact and I can open those files, but the Image is garbage.

The Image Data may still be intact for your file but if the Header is damaged, then you would have to use a Data Recovery Service, as I don't know of any software that can recover corrupt UFO files.

Here is a URL: http://www.e-tech.ca/008-FileFormats-u.asp#U they can recover UFO file format.

I DON"T Know what they would Charge you financially! You can always query them first.

That is/was the only Company I knew of that recovered corrupt UFO files. The UFO programmer must have quite.

There are a few File Recovery programs out there, don't waste your money, most will recover the file, but not repair the damaged header. That requires a programmer with the right knowledge and programming tools.

It would seem that your only hope is to contact ULEAD Tech Support and see if they can recommend a method of recovery or a service that could acccompish the task for you.

I tried to search the ULEAD Web Site for info but can't get through to the Servers.
