VS X3 Share Create Disc

Post by Trevor Andrew »

Hi

Just trying the new version.

Share Create Disc opens up a separate program, Corel DVD Factory.

I have tried but to no avail, how do you insert videos to this program in order to burn a DVD?

I select the option lower right ¡¥select photos and video¡¦
I am taken to a Media Library I suppose you could call it. Its empty¡K
I expect I should be able to browse my hard drive using the Folder option top left, but nothing happens.
There is an option on the timeline to Drag Items here¡K

Nothing seems to work and I am now stuck in this media library, there is no back option.
When I cancel the program gives the option to close.

Is it just me¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K.

Trevor,

The old, long time standing, Share>Create Disc as we know it, no longer is applicable with VS X3. Corel has totally destroyed that aspect. Until they come up with something better, my advice will be:
Edit your video clips, then go to Share>Create Video File, create a DVD Compatible video file.
Then close VS, and find another DVD authoring program to use.

Just for the record, it is not just you. It is all of us...! What is more, the whole DVD 2010 suite is quite invasive -- I installed it well before X3 Beta ever came out, let alone the new release, and after a bit of playing around with, I quickly unistalled it. It was slow, limited and not at all intuitive.

Imagine my horror when I found that was all we now have as our authoring module.

When I say invasive, if you wait a while, DVD Factory 2010 will in fact scan your whole computer for multimedia files, whether you like it or not (and I don't). I certainly don't see the need for that. A simply 'Insert Media' would have sufficed. But it seems it has to scan and find your media before you can drag and drop it to the authoring timeline, and then very slowly...

I too -- and I am sure all the other Beta testers (I thought you were one!) -- were all dismayed with this module; and like you I have not been able to find a way to back up a step. You apparently have to cancel out and start over again each time.

Unfortunately, us Beta testers can no longer play around with it either to help outselves and others, since the the Beta version stopped working at midnight on 31 January... Nice one...

Hi Ken/Ron

No I haven¡¦t been a beta tester, not sure how to get my name on the list.

Looks like Corel has made a really good job of corrupting a perfectly good program.

VS 10 was the first version to use HD, with a few faults, but after three more versions we are no further in curing them, by 12 we should have had an all singing and dancing faultless product, a world beater. Maybe it¡¦s a dream, but one that Corel isn¡¦t going to fulfil.

You could describe X3 as being an incredible piece of software. That¡¦s not meant to be a compliment.

Its becoming all to often that we give the advise to use another program, and that¡¦s got to be wrong.
We cant capture properly, we cannot burn a disc, what part of the program does actually work.

It¡¦s sad¡K¡K.

We can edit wonderfully. After all, it is a video editing app.

You must have missed an email from Corel sometime last year because I put your name forward as a candidate. Regarding the issues with the authoring in VSX3 please view These three posts by myself

... I also had you on my list for suggested Beta testers. The problem was that we had no real idea who had been chosen as the others, apart from Ron, Steve and myself, kept their anonymous numbers on the testing Board, where the three of us found the controls to assign our proper names and avatars...

Ron,
Then close VS, and find another DVD authoring program to use.
I'm not that familiar with other Authoring/burning programs although I do have a copy of Nero (but I'm not sure if that does burn DVDs). What do you recommend?

To add to Kens remarks above here is another copy of one of my posts in the Beta Forum

Video/Picture Libraries

This was recently brought up in the Corel User to user Web Board and now would be a good time to address the issue - i.e. in the new version. VideoStudio laboriously scans your hard drives for videos, images and music.

I trust my computer is typical of many and here are just a few facts and figures>
My Photo Album Directory
Image

And that is just that directory on that hard drive. I have plenty more.

My Music Directory
Image

Again - that is just that directory on that drive, I have plenty more.

This means I have over 15,500 photographs and over 7,000 audio files.
I do NOT want VideoStudio to create a huge index of all those files.
