Express Lab errors in Paint Shop Pro X3
I purchased the program, downloaded it 2 times. When I try to use Express Lab, the program errors out and stops the program. I tried to adjust the brightness and the error occured. It also happens with High Pass Sharpen. Smart Photo Fix results in the same error. Any suggestions?

Hate to sound smarmy, and perhaps other wiser brains will have more to offer, but wait for an update. My PSPX3 remains buggy (not reading tags, orienting pics the wrong way etc.) I hope an update will fix them. I do a lot of music and usually a "bug fixing" update follows shortly in a major music program! Good luck.
Update: Paint Shop Pro X3 errors with Express Lab
It is still not working. I contacted Corel and they made a couple of suggestions, none of which helped. I spent several hours removing the program and then reinstalling according to their suggestions. The best it did was work for changing the brightness, ONCE, but as soon as I tried another adjustment, the program ceased to operate and shut itself down. Think I will stay with X2 Ultimate.

Well, I too have found a couple of errors. But I have a lot of music software and notice that everything is buggy when it first comes out.....at least I have not found anything that works well. Even if it works for me, when I go to my music boards...I see it isn't working for someone....so hang in there... I'm sure a bug fix is coming!

The program still doesn't operate correctly. Help from Corel has not been good. Nothing they have suggested has worked. Now they want me to call them on my Dime. X2 Ultimate worked correctly the first time.

I've tried to replicate your problem however I can not get it to crash. I took it one step further and retrieved a photo from a USB external HDD, that I had to access through another PC on my Network. Now this being done, while having yet another photo open that I previously worked with in Express Lab, open. I made several alterations to the photos, but the program refused to crash.
Are you working with RAW images? Those are quit large, and can place huge demands on your system.

Does anyone think it is possible that PSPP Ultimate X2 is interfering with X3?

You will see from my signature block below that I have several versions of the same software installed all at the same time. However there is a reason for this - it is to assist with my dealings on this Web Board.
Is there a reason why you need to keep X2 on your machine when you now have X3? If not then I would try removing both and then install X3 again.
